I've been a baseball fan long before getting into films. I have to admit to not watching a film in the past 2 weeks and it will extend about another week. My San Francisco Giants are now going head to head with the Kansas City Royals for the World Series Championship. The excitement and energy is huge around the Bay Area right now with the next 3 games being played here in San Francisco. So my projectors might be lonely a little longer ... but I'll be back.

I never really understood the rules of baseball [Smile] It remains for me this strange game from American films and tv shows [Wink]

LOL [Smile] [Big Grin] Dominique... You don't really need to understand baseball to enjoy a game. The view from the upper decks of the San Francisco ball park is magnificent.

Janice with the Panda hat! Congrats to the Giants on beating my Cardinals and making the World Series. Tough game tonight but this has the makings of a classic series. Have fun Janice, see you in a week. - Clay

I must say the only film about baseball/with baseball in I enjoyed was the original "The Bad News Bears".

No if's, and's, or but's, San Francisco is the crown jewel of American cities. Just a stunning place, forever captured in Hitchcock's Vertigo.
Lucky Janice! [Smile]

LOVE San Francisco!
Isn't baseball just like "rounders" only the pitcher throws over-hand? [Wink]

My favourite baseball films,"Casey" and "Who's on First".

When it's San Francisco BULLET comes to my mind. That car chase would not have been what it was without the hills of SF. To get the full impact of that chase you have to watch it on the big screen where your stomach is left behind on every hill.

Baseball films are some of my favorites, FIELD OF DREAMS, ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD(both old and new versions), etc.

Baseball's origins are definitely English (Cricket and Rounders) and can even be traced back to a 14th century English game called stoolball.
I sometimes take it for granted that I can walk up Portrero St. here in El Cerrito and see San Francisco across the bay. Beautiful indeed. Our boys are Giants fans but we can't go. Tickets for tonights game are going for $500 apiece. And that's for standing room only. Yikes!!

A remarkable come-back win tonight to tie up the standings to 2 games each. My son and his friend got tickets for tomorrow night's game. They are busing up from LA in the morning. Wish I was going...but I'm excited for him.

Hello Trevor,

I'd say it's about 90% or so identical.

What an incredible view from the nose bleed section. Imagine being there with the weather conditions in that photo? You wouldn't have to be a fan at all to enjoy it. I fully agree.

I'm back to watching my films again, but I wanted to add to this thread.

I highly recommend a true-story movie that came out this year called "Million Dollar Arm." IMDB describes... "A sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball." It's a very heart-warming movie that is not just about baseball. I think you might enjoy it.
