Can anyone tell me why I can't see any of the images uploaded by other members? All I get is the rather terse little reminder shown below. Thanks

You very often see this when you are operating on a network with a proxy server.

If it's somebody else's network (like at your job, for example), there's not a lot you can do except try it somewhere else.

ive seen it while trying to paste an html address into this area you have to use the upload section provided.

Yep!,

Same thing happened to me a couple of networks back.

-and thanks for cropping out the text on the bottom of that picture!

(You only need to see it once for it to be enough!)
