I wanted to reach out to the members of the forum with regard to a projector I bought on ebay. The 16mm projector is a Bell and Howell 1592. It played for two weeks. One day while I was using the machine there was a burning smell coming from the projector.
Also, it plays for 5 minutes and slows down and stops.
Is this worth fixing or do I dump it?

Thanks,

Ron Green

Have you analyzed whats wrong with it I assume it could be a belt? if the worm gear is good it might be worth it to fix it if the worm gear is cracked forget it.

B&H is a very common projector. I used to have 3 sets. So the parts must be available easily except for the worm gears that is hard to find.

Burn smell is very common coming from the old projectors, but AFAIK as long as you did not see any smoke, it might not be the problem.

So when you smell it did you see smoke coming out ?

ps: this should be posted at 16mm category

Thanks for the help. I didn't see any smoke come out of the machine, just a horrible smell. If will check the gear.

Thanks,
