One thing about being retired [Wink] is now having the time to enjoy catching up with more film projection and in particular using the Ernemann 2 a lot more. This year the projector is going to get a lot of use, last weekend Yvonne and I watched the 1996 film "Dragonheart" starring Dennis Quaid with voice of Sean Connery as the dragon....great stuff, a most enjoyable night, some screen shots.

Thanks Tom

Funny though when I was offered the platters I was questioning my own "sanity" when I dismantled them at the cinema to take home.

The mall security guard and Yvonne helped me load up the trailer one night with the three deck and five deck platters. I thought at the time they might come in handy, rather than letting it all go to the scrap. However I do hope a lot of this stuff finds a new home as working exhibits in some museum somewhere, but so far the interest is zero, its just not there...anyway...
a couple more shots from the 35mm print other night [Smile]

Hi Colin

Yes...This video I took a while ago, will give you an idea what a 36v 400watt on a 12ft screen looks like. At the time I was using a Xenophot HLX 64664 lamp. I have since improved on that type of lamp that has a better filament arrangment, with the now Osram Xenophot HLX 64663 36V 400watt.

I spent a lot of time lining up the lamp and mirror to concentrate the light on the gate. The end result works fine on a 12ft screen. The lamps are rated for 50hrs, but seem to last longer, they are cheap to buy and easy to obtain.

Here is a short video I took a while ago while I was still using that earlier HLX 64664 lamp..

Good though Blu Ray is, this just wipes it away.

So True Tom.

I was looking at getting the blu-ray of "Airplane" lately, but put it off for the time being, as I am more than happy screening the 50 minute version on Super 8 [Cool]

Its a pity film projection had ended at the cinema, its just not the same anymore...seems to have lost that certain magic [Frown]

It would be great to have just one cinema locally, where 35mm or even 70mm could be again projected, however its very unlikely. Anyway this would be my choice, a single screen with a Kinoton projector and five deck platter, like we used to have from this photo taken on the last week before closing.
