I am posting this at the request of Steve....he is interested in getting some feedback.

The current deal he has had with printing his magazine and product info sheets in color has ended. He has enjoyed paying about half of what it would normally cost to print these items. And even with the low cost of printing is just above breaking even most of the time. Now with the cost going up 40-50% he needs to make some decisions moving forward.

Raise the subscription price to around $20 a year and keep the magazine full color.

Go back to color cover but B&W content at the current price.

I suggested keeping the current price in color and cutting it down from 32 pages to 16 pages.

Even if you don't subscribe to the magazine Steve is interested in your input on the matter as he does look in on the forum. Any other ideas would be most welcome!

Steve says thanks! [Smile]

Greetings
I would say Raise the subscription price to $20 a year and keep the magazine in full color.
The Real (reel) image is the Best by far
If it goes to Black & white it will lose the impact

...I agree. $20 for the year is well worth
It. I read each one cover to cover and think 16 pages would be too short, and B&W would be no good for the photos and artwork.

Absolutely DON'T make it shorter, nor B&W. $19.50 per year (see what I did there?) is quite respectable.

I just wish there were an electronic way to renew subscriptions. I'm so allergic to putting things in the mail, it takes me forever to get such things done. (PayPal?)

Agree. Don't shorten the content and keep it full color. Twenty dollars a year is nothing.

$20 a year is just about $1.66 per month or .38 cents a week, i cant see anyone having a problem with that.
Also agree 100% that it would lose its impact if it went to b/w on the inside or went to 16 pages. [Wink]

20 bucks is pocket change in this hobby, so absolutely!

Hey I'd gladly pay 20.00 a year to receive such a gem of a magazine !
Don't change anything - just the price .

I agree Bill, Don't make it shorter Steve! Say it isn't so!

20.00 dollars a year isn't much to ask, especially given how much we all spend on films very year! (sometimes every month! [Eek!] )

As a pioneer subscriber, when it was COMING ATTRACTIONS, I vote to keep it going with full-color and anything else Steve wants - For him and his dedication to the film world, money is no object - Shorty

I'd say keep it the same, and charge more.

Purely on a business basis Steve needs to keep the format and quality the same and raise the subscription rate. $20 is a bargain and collectors should support him by subscribing. If they don't they will be ones losing out.

I've just subscribed, I don't know the magazine, but I've heard good things about color graphics. A few dollars more to maintain it's certainly expendable.

I wouldn't mind paying more for a subscription. The color is really nice looking. There aren't much out there for super 8 magazines. So I like the improvement and extended size of what we have available. I always enjoy others articles.

I've never subscribed, but would be happy to do so from now on at the increased price.

Any links or advice on how to subscribe here in the UK appreciated.

Rob, it might be easier for you to check with Phil at Classic Home Cinema. I believe he is still an agent for Reel Image subscriptions in the UK.

Dom, at the end I bought Filmguard from Steve, also because I need other things that he had (tape for splicing machine, special cotton tips, etc.).
Steve himself asked me if I wanted to see sample number or make a subscription, so, given the low cost (19,99 $ for not Usa or Uk, I think, I paid a total and I don't remember the individual prices) I made the subscription.
Contact Steve at his email, you can pay with Paypal. [Smile]
