3; CALL HER SAUSAGE, THE TAXI BOYS, WHAT PRICE, TAXI? - There were 3 others in the "series", all on 16 of course, but the first three are around (somewhere) in 8mm/Super 8, usually from Blackhawk - Cheers, Shorty

The Taxi Boys films are:-

What Price Taxi 1932
Strange Innertube 1932
Hot Spot 1932
Taxi For Two 1932
Wreckety Wrecks 1933
Taxi Barons 1933

Call Her Sausage (1933) is not a Taxi Boys film as such although it does star Billy Gilbert and Ben Blue. It's the story of a shopkeeper and his useless assistant.

We had a copy of the taxi boys and at the time i had never heard of it. What i was surprised out is that its pretty muck L & H without L & H. The same style of comedy and the music was the same. I had it as part of a small lot i bought. I didnt keep this particular comedy.

Thundering Taxis,What Price Taxi, Taxi Barons and Wreckety Wrecks are all on 9.5mm Sound. Also short mute extracts from What Price Taxi, Wreckety Wrecks and Thundering Taxis were available as 200 or 300ft versions. Different tiles though!! ken Finch.

I missed out quoting the 1933 "Thundering Taxis" as it does not feature Billy Gilbert and Ben Blue.
The two taxi drivers are played by Clyde Cook and Billy Bevan.
It was the last of the Taxi Boys series from the Hal Roach studios.

Hi Joe. As you are going to Blackpool, here are the titles of the 9.5mm Pathescope abridged/shortened mute Taxi Boys films. SB30546 The Defaulters,(What Price Taxi). SB30545 Double Dummies (Wreckety Wrecks). Both 300ft. Eyes Front (Thundering Taxis 60ft extract).

The "Taxi Barons" short slipped by Hollywood’s “The Hays Code.”
At the beginning of the short there is a gag used as a set-up using a: “Chinese finger trap, handcuff” and that gag later becomes racy as seen at the 6: 25 time mark.

To me, What Price Taxi is the most hilariously consistent short in the series, and I don’t find them frequently either on 16mm or Super 8mm sound. This edition stars Franklin Pangborn, Clyde Cook, and Billy Gilbert.

"Sausage" on 8 seems to be a rare find and from a UK neg, right?

I have a 16 of: "Movie Daze" from '34. Billy Gilbert's name is again: Mr. Schmaltz, playing a frustrated movie director.

I came across an eBay auction of a Charley Chase title from 1932 titled: "Mr. Bride." The film is from a Film Classics UK negative which I had never known to exist on 16.
