I went on my ebay today and saw that i sold a 16MM documentary, and I was happy until I noticed that it said "free shipping" on the item, (the danged thing will cost close to how much the person paid in the first place!)

I know for a fact that i never put free shipping on it, and then, when I re-listing a number of other items, sure enough, i saw that ebay had been tampering with the auctions and was trying to have them up as "free shipping" when I certainly had not done that, so folks, be very cautious of you're re-listing you're ebay auctions! They only care about they're now 12 percent cut on you're film sales and could care less how much you are out of pocket on shipping.

The other thing I'd like to help folks on ...

If you print a shipping label for an item, please be advised that ebay assumes that ebay assumes that, once you have printed that shipping label, that you have shipped within a day or so of it being printed and adjusts the smount of time that the package needs to arrive by, based upon that priting of the shipping label.

I say this as some sellers will click to print the shipping label in order to make ebay (and the buyer) think that they are mailing it off right away, when they are waiting for days to do so, (one time i fould that the a seller printed a label but didn't even bother to mail the item for a whole week) ...

Thi kind of action by sellers can actually backfire on them.

Their app is forcing things like you mentioned Osi, plus not allowing you to set the amount of days you want the auction to run. It automatically defaults to 30 day listings. Check the eBay community forum and you'll see a lot of banter (and anger) over these changes.

I'm having to go through my auctions and raise the starting price by around a dollar or more on my auctions, just to keep up with this now "12 percent" take on the auctions. (it used to be only ten percent), if I'm going to make the desired amount.
