Here is a warning.

I bought a Super 8 projector from a European seller which arrived with its "kettle lead" terminating in a plastic 2-pin plug.
I got a UK 3-pin plug ready with appropriate tools to make the change as I assumed the lead itself would have three cores.
But I was wrong. [Embarrassed] The lead only had two cores.

Another warning.

Another thing to check is the voltage selector before you plug into UK mains. I knew from photographs that the projector was multi voltage. It was necessary to partially remove the back to pull out the voltage selector, which was set to 220 volts, and re-insert it into the 240 volt setting.
I used the word "partially" when referring to the back. This was because often the speaker lead/s is/are very short and terminate with plugs. Most plugs and wiring have been in situ now for about 40 years and may not take kindly to being removed, or more worse, pins break off. In my case I gently pulled the back only a sufficient way to change the voltage setting.
