Had a knock on the door this week, it was the post lady, sign please, it was the blu-ray from amazon in Spain, Wow I thought, that was good postage from Madrid. Well as "The Mosquito Coast" was not avaliable in the UK I took the chance with the region "B" from Spain.

This is where I should have learned different languages at school instead of looking out the window. However Google is the place to go for conversion.

After a bit of guess work on the disc menu I got there, English audio with no subtitles that is. The picture quality does vary from really good to average, however its still better than my old dvd. I do hope that "The Mosquito Coast" is given the full restoration treatment in the future, plus it would be nice to get James Cameron team to do a 3D on it, just like T2....now that would be something.

The Mosquito Coast was the second film Harrison Ford made during the 1980s directed by Peter Weir. The other was Witness. The Mosquito Coast was based on the novel by Paul Theroux, also starring Helen Mirren and River Phoenix.

Am I happy with the blu-ray?...yes...but it would be really nice to get a really good color 16mm/35mm print.

When you do come across a 35 mm print it will look awesome! Again there's nothing like film!

I have always thought that it was so incredibly awesome that Butterfly McQueen, in Hollywood since at least "Gone With The Wind", played a role in this film, still having that lovely "little girl" like voice!

This was an optical feature as well. I remember it being on Dave Thomas Films used film lists in his optical sound films offered for sale.

OSI, Dave was the man back then ! I was a good customer! He had a lot of good optical sound features! His list would come out once a month! And he had film sales also! I heard he is still around selling films on eBay! I would like to get one of his film list! I threw all the ones I had out! I wonder if he has the same phone number? Leon.

I did a bit of checking folks and to my surprise the Blu-ray of The Mosquito Coast is not available in the US, not only that, but there is no news of any future release.

Strange when you think "Witness" another Peter Weir film has been out for a long time. I was wondering if the studio is reluctant to release it in the US? [Roll Eyes]

Anyway folks the Spanish release on the back cover states A,B,C. so if you live in the US it will play OK as Zone "A" is the US.
