When I was a youngster in the fifties, I used to hire 9.5mm films from a chemist shop in Shepherds Bush, London, and one of my favourite titles was 'Master of the world', 3 reels, which was featured in the Pathescope catalogue as a silent item. A while back, I remembered this and searched the web unsuccessfuly for this film. Today, after some research in a science fiction book I found that it was a German film made in 1934 with sound of course, and had been released under many titles, one of which is indeed 'Master of the world', but is now on sale in Germany on DVD under it's original title; 'Ein unsichtbarer geht durch die stadt' which is a bit of a mouthfull and translates roughly as 'An invisible (man) goes through the city'. Before excitedly ordering it I found upon enquiry that it isn't available with English subtitles. How b....y frustrating ! Anyone know of a translation device to fit to my DVD player?

Wow that would be handy.... I have a number of foreign dvd's that do not have english subtitles as well...It is too bad the close captioning component on TV's is not set up for this type of cross country translation, because that would be quite the useful tool.

I found a 7 minute cut down of this film on utube which makes it all the more tantalizing as it brings back memories, so I'll probably bite the bullet, get a copy and just guess what all those Germans are talking about.
