Sadly David Erskine is no longer with us to keep the 9.5mm flag flying here so this is the news he would have announced .....

The 2011 winter schedule for the London Branch of Group 9.5 kicks off on the 3rd of September at 7.00 pm at their usual venue which is St Gabriels Church hall, Lupus Street ,Pimlico.
The first show is a meeting followed by a screening of

Ladies Courageous (1943) 16mm.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036529/

The Annual get together is next up at Harpenden Town Hall on on the 11th of Sept.
This is an all day event and should be lively as the group is hosting visits from the European 9.5 ers.

Back To St Gabriels on the 24th for a screening of "Top Secret" (1952) starring George Cole.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045244/

There are events fortnightly thereafter details to follow.

For next year bear in mind the legendary Spring Fair on 28th April.

The 9.5 group for those who are unfamiliar with it is a great place to network with film collectors of all gauges. In fact anyone with a love of movies in the home making or showing will benefit from coming.

Hope to see some of you there.

I think David would be very proud knowing his forum 9.5 St. Gabriels schedules were continuing.

Thanks Joe.

Don't forget all of us American 9.5'ers [Big Grin]

We'll be.....um.....I'll be there! ! ! ! woo hoo! ! ! !

actually it is a "we" since my wife has foolish... um .... gracefully agreed to spend all 4 days in Harpenden for all of the events....and because of that i may never ge the chance to come back [Frown]

I am very sad I won't get to meet 2 of my best 9.5 friends David and Warton, but I hope the rest of ye will welcome us.

Have a great trip Dino! Trust you will post a full report here, with plenty of photos, when you get back. The UK weather should be perfect at the time you are going. Try to get to Henley-on-Thames if you can, its not too far from Harpeneden.

It’s with regret I bring some bad news here. A member of our 9-5 monthly meeting has suffered a severe stroke and presently is hospitalised. Roger Spence is well known for his film making skills and also projects the films as Harpenden each year as well. Perhaps those of you who do will keep both him and his wife Mavis in your prayers as he lays in hospital.

Lee that is terrible news, and my thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family. Plus it seems to put his name on the rapidly growing list of people I had hoped I would meet at Harpenden but now will not. Granted some, such as Roger have been victim of health issues, many seem to simply not be going...It is a shame too as a 50 year anniversary such as this will never come around again, I would think that any of the ninefive people in the UK would want to be together to revel in such a monumental feat, but as of now I believe I will not meet the following:

Warton Parfit
David Erskine
Roger Spence (was looking forward to one of his award winning films)
Maurice Trace
Martyn Stevens
Lee Mannering
not sure about Patrick Moules (I'm gonna email him and check)

Dino,
I'm sure Grahame Newnham will be there and probably Tony Reypert from Buckingham Films. Tony does the 9.5mm conversions on the ELF projector.
Have a great trip - I envy you! [Smile]

Paul I am sure Grahame will be there but from what I hear Tony may not. I am very eager to meet Grahame and the others though,I just wish I knew more of the folks that will be there so I won't feel too much like a fish out of water.. [Smile]

OH and Bill I regret that I will not be able to visit Derann or Classic since neither of them is very close to London or Harpenden, and I would really be pushing it to ask my wife to spend any of our non-Harpenden time visiting a film store, considering she is allowing me to take our first vacation in 4 years and spend half of the days hanging with some film guys (most of whom we probably don't know)...She agreed to do the day trips on Friday/Sat to Woodburn Abbey and the Cinema Museum, she has agreed to watch "films in the hall" on thursday, friday and saturday night and then eat a group dinner with the cine guys each night, and watch me (hopefully) frothing at the mouth at the dealer tables on Sunday (and helping my friend Keith at his tables), so I thinking I have already pushed it to the limit... Not to mention, what she puts up with on practically a daily basis with my film stuff, she is an absolute diamond for what she puts up with and I think the 4 days in london should be all about her... [Big Grin] I am going to go see an old friend named John Sinclair play at the 100 club on Wednesday though...

The doc on Bailey the Light had a profound effect on me... [Eek!]

I will try to check in and post some updates if I get the chance...

Here is one last pic before I go..I found this tucked away in a box at work today. This is one of the rare 3mm cameras Eric Berndt designed for NASA in the 1960's. I put the nickel there to give an idea of how crazy small it is....If you it is threaded with some of the 3mm film.
