Years ago, when a callow youth, I used to hire 9.5mm titles from a chemist shop in Sherherds Bush, London, to run on my motorised Pathe Ace. One of the films had always stuck in my memory, 'Master of the world' ref no SB/887, a silent title, so a couple of years ago I searched through the web and several books and found that it had been made in Germany in 1933 under several titles, one being 'Die welt ist mein' (the world is mine). I looked through Amazon and other sites to see if it was on DVD, and finally found it on Ebay manufactured by a German company. I enquired and found that unfortunately it was supplied without subtitles, but I couldn't resist buying. After all these years it was quite a revelation to see the whole film, with sound, even though I didn't have a clue what anyone was saying! Sadly, my lady friend, who speaks the language but isn't a fan of old films refused to sit through it! Never mind. This isn't the first Pathescope title i've tracked down in DVD form, I wonder how many others have done the same?
