Is this Heurtier really only magnetic sound? I cannot see any optical reader but surely magnetic 9.5 wasn't popular enough to warrant a projector like this.

Terry,

According to Jurgen Lossau's Movie Projectors, The Heurtier Superson is tri-format and indeed only mag sound.

The market for magnetic 9.5 projectors was not so small. The Pathé Marignan was also magnetic only.

Dom
Strange then that magnetic 9.5 films are so few and far between. Personally I have never seen one. Were they mainly aimed at the amateur film maker so that they could add their own sound track after shooting a film?

Yes, Terry. That's exactly that. The French 9,5 club starts the monthly projection with amateur films and most if them have a magnetic soundtrack.
