Thanks to all. Resistance found. Martyn Stevens (Cinerdistan) was able to come up with an original so no further assistance necessary but thanks for all the offers and suggestions.

I am looking for the 'toaster' resistance/voltage dropper for a Bolex DA 9.5 projector. I think the G series resistance would also be suitable. Can anyone help?

I might have something I could send you if you pay postage...I recently picked up a DA on ebay that is sitting at my friends house in the UK...If he hasn't chucked the resistance in the skip yet I could have him send it to you, since I do not need them here in the states....

Hi Terry, You really would be better off using a transformer rather than one of those old resisters. Much more economical on your electricity bills! Unless you also need it to heat the room. Almost any projector transformer with 110volt OUTPUT will cope with the DA motor and the original lamp wattage. Ken Finch.

Unfortunately the transformer offered by Dino was too big and heavy and that is why I favour the original 'toaster' type. Although they are not so efficient, they are smaller and lighter and fit neatly in the box and also keeps it all original. I have tried to find a modern transformer but with a lamp of 300w and unknown wattage of the motor I am looking at a transformer of 400-500w output. Am I right? If so it will be a big, heavy lump and new they are quite expensive. Also would be nowhere near small enough to fit in the original carry case. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to a modern transformer alternative. Have I got my sums wrong with the wattage output?

I think 500W should be plenty given that sound projectors like the Elf use 200W motors. I think a Kodascope resistor for the Model D 300W model might be suitable as these are reasonably common on Ebay. Be careful and get it PAT tested though.
