Have any of you had any experience re-recording a mag track on a super-8 print? I have a nice copy of a Charley Chase comedy "Southern Exposure", and it has a HORRIBLY low-volume track. Is there anyone out there who specializes in such a thing?

Thanks in advance! [Big Grin]

Hi George,
This can be deone quite easily on a machines such as the Elmo GS1200 with the built in sync system and an external crystal generator which can lock the machine to the frame rate of your TV system. In the UK here we use 50 frames per sec so I use a generator which crystal locks the GS to 25FPS which then allows me the record soundtracks from DVD or VHS HiFi. The only difficulty arrises when the film you are recording from has a different cut to the DVD or VHS version as it means a lot of stopping and starting of the recording.
A small test recording on some of the films leader is also esential to make sure the Stripe will record on with good quality as this varies from stripe to stripe (laminate, paste, batch to batch variations etc).
Hope that helps, Kevin [Smile]
