I had a 200' B&W 'Dracula' movie as a kid where Dracula left a robot in charge of his house together with a time bomb. Significant scenes that I recall were where the house maid wrested the robot to the ground breaking off it's arms and another where the house maid jumped through a window and then popped back in through the window in reverse.

Can anyone please tell me from which 'Dracula' movie that came?

TIA

Xander,
Sounds like "Old Mother Riley Meets The Vampire", also known as "My Son The Vampire". Bela Lugosi plays a Mad Doctor/Vampire who invents a robot that mistakenly gets delivered to Mother Riley (Arthur Lucan in drag). He has the robot kidnap her, but she foils his plans for world domination.
Republic Pictures released silent 200' & 50' versions titled "My Son The Vampire". Walton had a 6 reel (1200') sound version but also cut 2 different one reelers called "Mother Riley in Dracula's Desire" & "Mother Riley Runs Riot". Sadly, I've never seen the film.

Thanks Doug! Just had a look on IMDB and you're absolutely right. I must have watched that silent reel about a hundred times or more in the early seventies... and unfortunately lost it in the process of growing up.

I see its available on DVD, but I'd almost prefer the 8mm version...

I managed to find a print of this in full length for myself and it is a fun reel. Bela looks really good in this film for being so ill in his later years. The famous ship interview that is floating around was done just after he filmed Old Mother Riley Meets The Vampire. A good little short to edit onto this feature. [Wink]
