When my auction for the GS1200 was running, I received this mail from an unknow guy:

"HELLO, I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THIS ITEM,I WILL LIKE TO MAKE IMMEDIATE PURCHASE NOW AND I OWN A STORE IN AFRICA WHERE I SELL ITEMS OF THIS KIND. I MUST ALSO SAY THAT THE DEMAND FOR THIS PARTICULAR UNIT IS QUITE HIGH IN MY STORE AND SINCE YOU DO NOT SHIP TO AFRICA I SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPMENT DOWN TO AFRICA WITH MY UPS ACCOUNT, I WILL ALSO WANT TO TREAT THIS TRANSACTION WITH UTMOST URGENCY AS I HAVE BUYERS WILLING TO PAY QUITE A REASONABLE AMOUNT FOR THE UNIT, SO I WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF YOU WOULD ACCEPT WESTERN UNION AUCTION PAYMENTS/BIDPAY AS THE MODE OF PAYMENT SO THAT AS SOON AS YOU RECIEVE THE APPROVAL LETTER FROM THEM YOU CAN RELEASE THE ITEM FOR SHIPMENT.USUALLY A CONFIRMATION LETTER IS SENT FIRST AND THEN THE APPROVAL.WILL THIS BE POSSIBLE?I MEAN SHIPMENT IMMEDIATELY AFTER RECIEVAL OF CONFIRMATION AND APPROVAL MAIL, IF IT IS ,PLS GET BACK TO ME ASAP WITH THE AD DRESS TO WHICH PAYMENT SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO SO THAT WE BOTH CAN CONCLUDE THE TRANSACTION IN A VERY TIMELY MA!NNER"
I checked his nickname and I discovered he was registered from Singapore; Singapore??? but he wanted I sent the projector to Africa?? [Confused]
Africa??? but Africa is not a little place... where in Africa???
But what does this guy want? my english isn't good, and I don't understand his english... [Wink]
Of course, folk, this a VERY very VERY fraudolent mail!!!

Hello,

I did receive exactly the same email and I sent the email to eBays fraud protection system for verification. The name of the eBay member is "manddygoods", registered in Singapore with zero feedback. I did receive a standard email from eBay, saying that they will check the Ebay member, with the result that this eBay member has been suspended.

I think this eBay member tries to cheat people the same way that was reported on TV with used cars going to Africa. They say that they want to buy your car for a guy who lives in Africa, then pay you with a check which is about twice the amount they owe you. They say that the extra amount is needed for shipping the car to Africa and they ask you to pay this extra amount back in cash. Needless to say that the check is not cashed in by your bank and car and cash are lost.

Best Wishes
