I bought a Chinon 2000GL on Ebay which runs in reverse when it should be playing. I found a user manual but it doesnt give any information about wiring or mechanical settings. Does anyone know where I can getr a service manual or can you tell me if this is likely to be a wiring error or a mechanical problem? Thanks

Hi Clive,
can you tell me what the projector does when the control switch is set to reverse?
You've probably checked this but is it possible the control switch has been taken off and put back on in the wrong position? see if the dial can be turned clockwise past the 'forward' position (obviously don't force it)
John

Hi John, It plays in reverse both ways - switching to reverse makes it reverse, moving it to FWD nothing happens, moving to Lamp turns on the lamp, moving to Still makes it play in reverse. It does not move beyond the Still setting or past the Rev /lamp the other way.

Flip, that does sounds like a job for someone with expertise beyond my limited knowledge. I hope someone out there can help.

This projector has also been badged a bit and appeared as a Bell and Howell and a Keystone if this helps.

Sounds to me that rather than "badged a bit" it's been "bodged a lot" by someone trying to repair it. The result is the reason it was on ebay!.
Anyway, Clive, I hope you can find someone local to you that can help as it sounds virtually impossible to diagnose other than "hands on".Best of luck,
Martin
