because I like to read in your wonderful Forum,I feel ,that it is time to join you.
I am living here in Germany since my birth 50 years ago. With 12 Years I got my first Super 8 mm Projector. It was a Schongerfilm ,it was only Toy without any Quality,but it was a start into the most beautiful hobby I can image. From my first money during my education I saved DM 525 to buy a sound projector. That was my start in collecting movies. The Year was 1976. Video gave me a interuption in Super 8 mm for 5 years, because it was new. But 1986 I felt,that Video was not the same and I turned again to Super 8 mm. Than,in the year 1989 I started with 35 mm and it open my eyes,what Quality realy was .
But I still loved Super 8 mm and so I loved both formats. During the last 20 years I got some nice 35 mm prints and a huge amount of trailers. About 5 years ago I founded a movie club in Wuppertal,Germany and since then we meet every month and do a wunderful show. first we start with about 4* 400 feet
on super 8 mm ,mostly rare english digests plus a big trailer reel. Then we start with a 60 minute trailer programe in 35 mm . After 2 news reels we watch a feature in 35 mm ,mostly from the fiftys to the seventys. This club is probably the only private filmclub here in this area,where we watch sutch old prints. Especaly,when we show an old technicolour print. After the show we make the new date and everybody is going by car to his town.
What I like in Super 8 mm are mostly abridged versions of old,fantastic themes like the old universal and castle films,science fiction movies of al kind ,musicals and much more. In 35 mm I have a deep love for old Toho and Hammer films,Monster movies like Godzilla films and similar,but to al kind of old movies. In my 35mm trailer program I divided the Filmhistory in special programs, like Hollywood trailer old an new,European trailer,German Trailer,Horror trailer Fantasy and Monster trailer, Science fiction trailer ,Disney ,Music and Concert trailers and much more. So we have always a lot to look. At my next meeting we watch on 35 mm a trash film with Lon Chaney and J.Caroll Nash from 1971. plus Hitchcocks North by Northwest on super 8 mm plus part three of the german Cinemascope program of the sixties.
You see, there is a lot to do .

Hi Andreas,

Welcome to the forum.

I am one of the German release fans due to the fact most of the releases are between 3 or 4 reels.

The second reason is many of German releases are packed in wonderful box/case.

Hope you can contribute more here especially to tell more story about German super 8mm world/scenes.

Greetings! That's a wonderful introduction you wrote. Once a month screenings with your movie club? I'm jealous.

I have to ask....that "trash film with Lon Chaney and J.Caroll Nash from 1971"? Would that be the Al Adamson classic Dracula vs. Frankenstein? I shot a film for Independent International decades ago and they took me on a tour of their offices, which included the prop closet that still had the head of the Frankenstein monster from that movie!

Yes ,you are right. The main movie, I show tomorrow,is Dracula vs Frankenstein. I was not sure about the english title. The german title is Draculas Bluthochzeit mit Frankenstein. Translated about:Draculas blood marriage with Frankenstein. I hope,my friends and guests will like it. Last time ,I saw the print,the colors were still great.
I like this funny stuff ,but the old Hammer Movies I prefer.
One question about Super 8 mm. When you speak about marketing prints,you speak always about the later releases,which were well known in the USA and england. But what is about the early releases from Marketing film from 1973 to 1976 ? Are this Super 8 versions unknown in the english spoken world?
I think,some interesting titles were released in this time.
I have now a very interesting question about 35 mm trailers,but I do it in general yag.

Welcome Andreas and yes please tell us more about the early Marketing releases. Your are right in that the better known releases are in fact the later ones.

In fact those Marketing earlier year releases will include soft porn (or even xx) movies.

Yes ,you are right. A few years ago I saw a beautiful print of "How to marry a milionaire" in the Delphi. It was a stunning Technicolor print in almost mint condition. Gratulations to your print. Nice ,that we meet us here again in the forum. Because I am still a Super 8 mm friend and a 35 mm enthusiast, I belive,there is no better place to find friends as here .
