So I stumbled across an ad today for some old 8mm stuff etc. and called right away.

So I was lucky enough to get for the price of 50 quid;

approx. 300 reels of assorted 8mm cartoons, films and whatnot, 200' - 600' all of it.
a working B&H 16mm projector w/ 4 cartoons
and a 8mm viewer

FIFTY QUID! JEEPERS!

O yeah Chris, I am sure I still quite remember your small apartment...so I wouldn't mind if you send some of the films to Canada [Razz]

I luckily have a spare room in the apartment that I will turn into a film room now :-)

Twas the missus who found the ad, so I'm thanking her! Good thing we're getting married soon [Wink]

Excellent find. Was this from a private collector?

It is from a former Super 8 & Photo shop in Stavanger, Norway, so the collection is mostly rental films and unsold reels. The seller is the nephew of the owner of the shop (which closed 20 years ago) and they are now clearing out the locale, selling off loads of cameras, accessories etc.

So when I found the ad I called right away and said I wanted every bit of 8mm and 16mm he had. And I got it all [Smile]

Chris, I checked on google map, Stavanger is 3 hours driving from your city. So it is worth driving rather than rely on post which may cause a trouble.

Good luck!

Yeah, it's around 5 hours from my house (due to ferries etc.), but luckily, my brother-in-law works down there, so he's bringing it all home to me on monday when he's down there next :-)

Chris

What a deal! And I don't even know what 50 quid is! Bet you can't wait to dig into it.

50 quid is 50 GBP (British Pounds) so roughly 75-85 US dollars :-)

I've already got next monday, tuesday and wednesday set off for the films! (Arriving monday via car).

Best Mark.

PS I like the way you know what a quid is Christian !!!

Thanks all! Yes, Gerald, it's a sort of irony in it really; I was about to sell my collection, and then I go ahead and double it 5-6 times instead!

David: Will get a complete list with pictures as soon as I can. The lot is arriving on monday, so I will probably spend next week checking it all as I have the week off from Uni.

Been following your posts Christian and reminded me of a sci-fi collection I helped collect in the 80's needing 2 estate car full loaded trips. Nice to see someone younger very much into the hobby..Well done. [Cool]

Thanks! It's odd to think that 99% of the things I collect are older than myself [Big Grin]

So Christian what is the story? Have you got them all and checked the films ? I am curios to know what are they.

And photos...don't forget! [Wink]

As my car is still partially broken, I'm not able to pick it up myself, so my uncle and aunt will be bringing it with them when they come home for christmas The lot is six quite large boxes, five of them films and one box with a 16mm projector, a viewer and lots of other stuff, and the boxes are SO big that they can't take it all in one trip. So they will be bringing with them three boxes this friday (two with films + the machine box) and then the last three in two weeks or so when they're going back to their secondary home (where it's stored currently) to check their mail etc.

Will try to have a list + pictures up here either friday night or sunday (working all of saturday). [Smile]

Rest of the films have arrived, so a big sales list will be coming up before or during the weekend. About a dozen digests and 2x400/3x400, aswell as a 4x400 Walton featurette, and of course; BIG heap of 200' and 400' and some other goodies.

Pat, if you do larger purchases, I will of course be gentle on the shipping costs :-)
