We have now fixed the date for the 5th East Lancashire Film Fair as follows.

SATURDAY 27th APRIL 2013
Doors open 10:30AM till 3:30PM
AT
ANTLEY METHODIST CHURCH HALLS
BLACKBURN ROAD
ACCRINGTON
LANCASHIRE
BB5 0DE

Entry still only £3.50

There will be 2 large dealer halls selling films, cine projectors (8mm-9.5mm-16mm-17.5mm and 35mm), equipment, posters and our usual DVD traders selling hard to find films.

How to get there from Norway? I mean, closest airport? Any more info you can give? I would like to go to learn and to buy some.

Hello Vidar, there is an airport at Blackpool although not a
commercial one, the nearest would be Manchester and you could
either take the train or coach from there.( the Airport)

I would imagine that it would be an admission fee on the door, but

The north west film fair convention will be held at the hilton. NOVEMBER 17th 2013.

Arrangements are coming together really well and pleased to report we will have a good cross section of traders coming along to fill our two rooms of film fun.
Still only £3.50 entry and tea/coffee only 50p all day long.

Nearest train stations: ‘Church and Oswaldtwistle’ or ‘Accrington’
Bus from Manchester 9.15am or 10.10am onwards get the X41 from Chorlton St (stop EZ) Get off Accrington. Journey takes just over an hour.

Bit of an update!
Pleased to report my Film Fair arrangements are coming along well and some new dealers will be attending selling even more 8mm films and projectors thus expanding choice available to peruse and buy.

Members of the Roland Davies ‘Steve the Horse fan club’ are also attending and will be pleased to chat to you about the 1930’s cartoons which Steve appeared in and also on 9.5mm, 8mm and 16mm film some of which will be shown during the day.

Having spoken to all the traders I think you will see some very nice items which will include a collection of serviced Elmo GS1200 projectors up for grabs along with many other models and makes I am sure plus a rare Pathe 17.5 sound projector, classic 16mm features, 8mm, 9-5 and just about all manner of cine items.
Projector parts.

So that is just a little of what we hope you can expect to see plus a great deal more, so dust off those walking shoes and come along to the East Lancashire Film Fair and enjoy the day.

Think I have just about recovered from what was a busy few days for the run up to our April 2013 Film Fair and to pen a few words. Those who stage film fairs will know all about the work that goes in to actually putting one on but on the day it is all worth the effort.

My wife and I spent hours over two days making sure everything was just right for our visitors, some travelling 500 yards and others from outside the UK and we hoped on the day everyone would find something of interest including me. The day had arrived and a healthy cue was forming ready for the doors to open into room 2 which then let you have entry into room 1 or as I called it ‘the land of the Elmo’. All popular film gauges were represented and I could see interest in 35mm was growing and pleased to see that happening as well. If you were looking for Super 8 it was your day with a very nice selection of films and I treated myself to a couple of brand new Derann shorts that were on sale. I mentioned room 1 being the land of Elmo as I have never seen just about every Elmo sound projector model together in one go, so if you wanted an Elmo machine it was your day and by the end of the event every machine had been sold. The first near mint GS1200 sold in the first 5 minutes with the second going just 40 minutes after and the other models soon followed suit.

All the above is a very healthy sign for the UK cine scene, in particular the film collecting events within our country and you could see first hand that people were keen. Nice also to see some new dealers setting up along with some new film collecting faces in the crowd. We put together a small display of Roland Davies ‘Steve the Horse’ artwork and books as well and projected some of his British 16mm cartoon films during the day held in the fan club archive. These were well received as were the other cinema related films I ran during the day.

All in all a very good day and our thanks go out to the collectors who were able to make the trip and dealers for supporting it. I was asked by a number of people to do a second event in the year but I still believe we have more than enough on offer within the UK throughout the year to keep us all busy. We have the excellent Ealing event plus the new style North West Film Fair to look forward to next so quite a full house.
