In May I'm planning to show my standard 8mm (silent) print of Clarence Brown's THE GOOSE WOMAN to a film club I'm a member of. We usually project DVD or Blu-ray but this will be the first time we've projected a feature on film.

I watch my 8mm silent prints at home on my Bolex 18-5 but I don't think the 50W lamp will be up to the job projecting in a slightly larger room to about 10 people. I'd say a 100W lamp would be OK - what recommendations would people have for a silent projector? I thought about one of the dual-format Eumigs - like the 610 or similar.

I have had the chance to buy a Kodak Sound 8 but I turned it down; I thought it was perhaps a little old and I didn't specifically need it to play sound of course, but it was working nicely and had a 100W lamp. Should I perhaps rethink this one?

I have a couple Kodak Sound 8's. Replacement bulbs are very expensive, these projectors need bulb conversions. You would be better off with a Eumig dual 8. I would also recommend a Bolex M8. It gives a nice bright picture and is a conversation piece also!

Yes the M8 is a real beauty!

If you wish a silent standard 8 updated projector I would suggest the Eumig P8.

Sankyo Dualux 2000-H. Cheap 100 watt bulb, variable speed, slow motion, still frame and sprocketless.

I use my Bolex M8 all the time and it looks great as a projector and it has a bright picture, and the Sankyo 1000 or 2000 are also great :-)
