Hi guys

I have been looking for some Super8 fullcoat to use with my Super8 fullcoat recorder.

I love the medium, I love the past. (I’m just an old fogey). Anyway wondering if anyone knows where I can buy some Super8 fullcoat or get it made or a company that could split 16 mm into 8 mm and perforate it for me .

Thanks in advance
Rich

Hey Richard! I’ve seen some 16mm fullcoat around but not any in 8mm/S8. Where did you manage to find the recorder!?

Evan

I originally got them purchased the Super8 sound 8 recorder from super eight sound which of course is now known as pro 8 mm back in the late 80s.

It was in the early to late 80s when super eight was still in its height of popularity among independent filmmakers.

what they did was they modified and sold a UHER4400 recorder and all you had to do was have super eight for coat and there was a dial that you would simply turn and once it was in the center you were at 24 frames it was great.

Using a crystal sync Super eight camera like the 7008 Pro it came with a 2 gang edting bench which was also Crystal sync and you could edit and splice what you needed. it saves a lot of money because you Only spliced what you needed to have transferred to video as opposed to having to transfer an entire roll.

I have decided to dust off the equipment now that there was film negative and super eight and decided to try and see if I can make another go in the future now that there was super negative film. I have all the equipment needed so we’ll just have to see I’m hoping to find more super eight fullcoat like I said. I have a company split 16 mm forgot and perforate it for super eight.

Just a sidenote I even have the custom made blimp for those 7000 a pro camera to silence it it’s a shame they don’t make them but I am tempted to take measurements and have someone make additional blimps but that would depend on the demand since they don’t make the cameras anymore and a lot of the filmmakers who use the 6008 and 7008 and 9008 pro cameras don’t seem to really care about how quiet the cameras are when shooting so we’ll have to see

Richard,

If you have somebody to split and perf 16mm, maybe we should talk.

Someone GAVE me (which makes it OK) a 16mm "film" based on the title on the can.

So I threaded it up and ran it: No count down, no picture, for like 30 seconds...a minute...a minute and a half!

"What the...? Is my lamp blown?"

I gave it a closer look: it was actually something like 600 feet of 16mm Full Coat!

I'd be willing to give this up for the postage and the shelf space!

Steve:

I tried to email you but it is being blocked in the forum don’t know why but if possible please email me and I will hit you back with my address where you can ship the 16mm fullcoat to. Please let me know the cost of the postage I’ll reimburse you either by check or PayPal or if you have Zelle with your bank.

Once again thanks!

Sure thing!

I'll be in touch later on today.

It may as well go where it will be used: it's no better than a doorstop to me!

Guys, please keep in mind that if the base is estar, you won't find a better blackout leader than fullcoat. If it's acetate, however, it will likely turn vinegar much more quickly than normal film due to the oxide coating, so you don't want to use that as blackout.
