I've got 2 Bruce Lee features for sale, both are 4x400' German UFA prints, both titles are in excellent condition, have there original German illustrated clamshell boxes, but crucially both have been re-dubbed into English. Each print is masked for widescreen, so you lose none of the image. the titles are Fist of Fury & Game of Death. I want £200 Each plus post, if anyone is interested before I list them, then let me know as soon as possible at indi8films@aol.com .

I can vouch for the quality of these two prints - I sold them on eBay on Tuesday.

Just to be clear, both films run between 72-80 minutes, and are edited feature prints.

Barry, to be fair, these films are over priced.

If Barry had "Way of the Dragon" for sale I would pay the price he is asking. I just have those 2 already. [Smile]

Dear Collectors,

Those who know me and my lists should know by now that my prices are always a starting price, and I have discounts in every issue. It is perhaps unfortunate that the price I paid was listed in the link Keith put up for collectors to see the quality (which is superb, by the way) of the print. I have already had enquiries about each film, and not one of them mentioned the price as being too high, tell me how many Bruce Lee films except Enter The Dragon has anyone seen in feature length with an ENGLISH soundtrack.

If collectors really think they are too dear, they will not buy, it's as simple as that, and with the way I do my lists in 2 months time if not sold they will have a reduction on them.

I believe these are 2 very rare films in superb condition for the age of the films, and I've priced them accordingly, no one knows what my final price to buy them off Keith was, and I'm not going to tell you, but the £200 price tag was not come to lightly, as I've been selling films for over 20 years, and this is the first time I've had prints of these titles in English sound, so extremely rare.

If they don't sell in the end I was wrong, and I'll have 2 more films in my collection, but I thought I'd give true collectors the chance to buy these REEL RARITIES.

I just looked at the impressive colour on the screenshots of 'Game of Death'. I had no idea that UFA were still printing in the low fade era but this print indicates that presumably they were. Does Keith or any UFA experts know what stock it's on?

Posted by Alan Rik (Member # 73) on July 09, 2013, 06:36 AM:

My copy of "Game of Death" has the same great color but my copy of "Fists of Fury" is pinkish. And my copy of "Way of the Dragon" is a mixed bag. A few reels are great and a few are faded!
[Frown]
I think those titles are rare and for a Bruce Lee fan priced correctly. I missed out on a full length Scope Enter the Dragon in German almost 10 years ago. 150 sterling. I still kick myself when I think about it. Thanks Barry for offering the item here on the forum first. That was much appreciated! [Smile]

Adrian,

Game of Death"" was on Agfa stock and "Fist of Fury" was on Eastman.

Congratulations Barry on your sale - I wish it could have been me [Frown]

Hugh,
I can see nothing at all wrong with buying something and selling it at a profit. I'm not sure why you would see it as a problem. Sounds to me like sound business sense.

Michael, I take the point, the lad that sold his films on ebay, graciously gave way.My thinking is, there wasn't even the hint
of "I'll give it a few weeks, then put them on a list", then the
guise of providing a service to collectors, you can't have it both ways, profiteering is just that.Sorry but I creep and crawl to no man. What was that title of WC Fields film, oh yes,"Never Give A Sucker An Even Break"It's a crying shame the chap didn't offer
them first on here, where at least he would have reaped some reward for his redubbing.

Hugh ...

a professional seller, (Barry, by the way), doesn't have to wait for days or weeks to re-sell a print. Why? They are in the very business to sell prints, to move prints, and so Barry and any other seller has every right to move the print on whether the very day or weeks later.

Barry, by the way is a fellow film lover extroidinare, so he's not just selling films, he enjoys the very perusal of prints. He should be congratulated for making these prints available in the first place. he could have just put them in his private collection.

Lastly, the price is never too high if someone is willing to buy the print at said price.

enuf said.

But, Hugh, how does anybody who deals in used goods make a profit? They buy the goods and then sell them at a profit.
I don't see your point at all.
Are you saying it would have made a difference of some kind if the new seller had waited a period of time before re-selling?
It's no biggie, Hugh. We shan't fall out over it or anything. I just can't understand what problem people have with someone making a profit in their line of business.

Firstly, can I thank Hugh for calling me "The Lad" - at 63 that is an honor [Smile] [Smile]

I put the films on eBay for a total of 10 days - in that time the maximum number of"watchers" was about 20. There were TWO bidders in 10 days.

Yes, I would have liked to have gotten more for the films but, at the end of the day, I bought them from another collector some time ago and, after my fees for eBay/Paypal were deducted I made my money back.

I appreciate the point that Hugh was making (by the way Hugh, I didn't do the re-dubbing - that was already done when I purchased the films), but at the end of the day, the films ceased to "be mine" the minute the winning bidder paid and the new owner has the right to do with his purchase as he wishes.

Yes, I could have put them on the forum to sell but after my last foray in selling films on the forum, over 18 months ago caused me no end of stress and problems, I said I would not do it again - but that is another story......

I am sure that most "serious collectors" on these forums "watch" eBay and if they wanted the films then they would have placed bids - only one forum member did - and that was Barry.

This hobby is a conundrum at times - I paid a "small" amount for a 3 x 400ft "Ten Commandments". When I sold it on eBay (sometime later - the starting price was what I paid for it)it finally sold for TEN times that amount, which amazed me. [Eek!]

The goods are worth what the individual is prepared to pay and is happy with - I know,I certainly wouldn't have paid what the buyer of "Ten Commandments" paid me but, at the end of the day, he was happy and left me excellent feedback on eBay. [Smile]

Keith, I bow to you Sir, you're a Gentleman. I'm not wholly convinced by the arguments, I was under the impression, obviously a misconception on my part, that we tried to help each
other on this forum, not use it as a means of profiteering. I accept
that dealers operate for profit, but it sticks in my throat, that
when the same films would be offered back to Barry, there would be nothing like his asking price offered.Like Michael said, there's no need to fall out, but it is a point.

Thanks Hugh.

I agree "falling out" should not take place [Smile]

That is why - as the seller in the ensuing debate, I felt that I should make my feelings on the subject known.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone's opinion is valid in some way, shape, or form. The main thing is, we have the opportunity to express those opinions. [Smile]

I know Keith personally and Hugh, you are quite correct, he is a true Gentleman! I have also dealt several times with Barry and found him to be a very fair minded individual who would certainly not rip anyone off in my experience. Yes he is a dealer and therefore uses the buying and selling of films to make his living. All I know is that if everybody selling films was as open, honest and transparent as Keith and Barry then there certainly wouldn't be any complaints from myself.

Andrew, I have dealt with Barry from since he took over the firm
from the CROOK Gary Watson, who still owes me £350.00 .
Barry is a grand lad, but to my mind jumped too soon, my opinion, the.chap who sold his films say's he has no gripe, fair enough, everyone's
a winner.
