Offering up for sale one of my GS1200 MO machines. Halogen lamp. This is the latest model (and best in my opinion). Has both Magnetic and Optical playback. This projector is unique as it has a 5 blade shutter installed. If for some reason you would rather have a 3 blade I would be happy to swap it out as I have a couple extras on hand. Includes a Elmo 25-50mm zoom lens.

It's first time I ear about 5 bladed shutter.

Is this configuration used for slow motion ant digitalizing ?

I can't say I know a lot about the 5 blade but I do hear it makes better video transfers. The projected image looks normal. Don't think you can really tell much difference between a 5 and 3 blade visually. The 3 blade might have a slightly brighter image however.

I am not trying to point fingers at anyone. I am ONLY commenting on what Bill said above. With all due respect to all posters in this thread. READ WITH AN OPEN MIND.

Bill's comment directly above is mis-leading. Either he had a GS once and had so much trouble he gave up and got rid of it. Or he does have one and knows what it can be like sometimes. Or, I will have problems with the one that is on it's way to me during the week of August 2nd. Either way I'm ready for this machine. Having been told it was recently serviced, it shouldn't be a nightmare. (Adam if you are reading this please see the bottom of this post)

When I got my first GS 1200, even though it was DOA and needed a big repair (Leon brought it back to life), it didn't take long to realize how good this beast can be. And I just play films the easiest way. I haven't yet experienced Pedro Box DVD sync.

It also didn't take long for me to decide back in early 2014 that I wanted more GS 1200 machines. So I made a plan. I became a GS 1200 collector.

With the acquisition of this machine from Adam, it will be my 6th one. Because I decided that I wanted one pair of GS 1200 machines in each of the first 3 versions they did.

I will have by Friday:

the second of 2 third generation machines which will sit nicely with my other pairs of first and second generation machines.

This has taken a long time, and I'm not done. As most of the others were Ebay sales, they will be going to Leon for tune ups when I can get them done.

There is no deny this is an expensive time consuming project.

My current status is I have two machines running decently. That is, decent enough that I can leave the projection booth, sit with my guests, and not have a problem running prints.

The other 3 I have are in need of tune ups. And hopefully the one arriving this week will not be needing any of that kind of work.

I encourage anyone thinking about purchasing a GS 1200 to do so when you are ready. You will need to be patient. Ask your questions, do your homework, plan for the worst and anything else will be much better. You need to learn how these buggers work. Understand the electronics vs the mechanical. In the early moments of owning one, watch the projector run - instead of watching the movie it is running.

Kevin F from the UK told me early on, once the problems are sorted, you'll be happy. And he was so right.

I have NO regrets having taken this plunge to the deep end.

With all due respect to Adam, of course. He was really great with the sale and very quick to release to the shipper.

I will continue this thread based on previous comments. This is a follow up to the purchase of this machine.

First I wish to say a BIG thank you to Adam. He was great with the sale and I appreciate being able to do business with him. As you read what I say below, I mean no disrespect to Adam regarding this purchase. He made it possible for me to obtain my final GS, and for that I am grateful. So here’s to Adam for being a really good member of this forum.

The following observed opening the package:

A very good machine in excellent shape. Remarkably clean, and packed for shipping really well.

First test run is excellent.

Fast rewind. One of the best rewinds in a GS that I have seen in a long time.

Nit picking on the rest as follows:

Rear feet will need to be replaced. Electrician’s tape found on the rear left adjustable foot, and the rubber foot attached to the right adjustable foot is missing. This is OK and very easy to fix and I can take care of this.

So there you have it. This machine is perhaps in the best shape of all the ones I bought arriving to the house. Yet it will need just a little tweaking.

This time I was lucky.
