Heres a good old Andy Panda cartoon from Castle Films way back.
This one is still in condition but with some fade now, bit of a strange one this, it looks the same now as it did ten years ago so i am unsure if they all look like this one or if the fade has got as far as its going to go. As always these images dont show how bright and sharp the image actually is on screen and there is more colour in it than you see here.
Andy Panda conducts the "Hollywood Washbowl Orchestra" in the title tune. After Andy removes a frog from under his wig, he begins. All is well until his shirt gets stuck on a nail; while he's fighting it, the orchestra breaks into a swinging tune. Back under control, a talkative squirrel in the audience annoys the pig sitting next to him; the pig zips the squirrel's mouth shut. A bird lands on Andy's baton; he waves it, and 2, 3, 4, and 5 birds appear. He waves some more, and the birds disappear one by one, finally replaced with a very happy cat. Two ducks dance as ballerinas; then one fox and one duck, but the second duck is not as easily captured.
All in all very good sound makes this a very good one reeler.

I've never actually seen any of these cartoons, but I believe they were quite popular.

They seem to be Robert, we also have Wally Walrus, the overture to William Tell and this one has much better colour. [Wink]

These were extremely popular! That and Walter lantz was very proud of this series of cartoons and considered them the high point of his cartoon studio history. A lot of money went into them, especially the mid to late 40's cartoons (this above one being among them).

I must say, Tom, that I am lucky that mine hasn't gotten a shred of fade, which is kind of rare with these as most of this series were printed on Kodak SP.

Thats good Osi, this one has now gone onto flea bay as it has fade, we are on a fund raiser for Blackpool and to be honest now i am getting tired of fade. I know its inevitable on some films now more than others but i am going to start to weed them out now. [Wink]

I would love to find an IB Tech 16mm copy.

Tom, can you tell me more about "Wally Walrus?" That name has a funny significance in my family. However, the only titles I can find on IMDB are short subjects from 1914.

Though these Universal 8/Walter lantz cartoons do tend to sadly fade, they were taken from the best negative material and as you're screenshots show, quite sharp for vintage cartoons.
