Hello all,
I am actually a super8 User but plan to "upgrade" my hobby to 16mm now. I am watching several 16mm Projectors on ebay but i am confused about the optical sound / magnetic sound. What is more common if i buy a Film? I believe Magnetic? Is that correct?

Thank you
Randy

In 16mm, optical sound is by far the most common. There are, relatively speaking, very few 16mm prints around with mag sound.

Being new to 16mm you may find this helpful:

Which is the older technology? Are the first sound projectors likely to be magnetic or optical? How can you tell by looking at the projector?

Optical is the older technology, being used since the forst 16mm sound machines.Magnetic 16mm film was used mainly for news shows as it was a quicker and cheaper process. Some features would have a split opt/mag track, with one in a different language.

The Eikis are excellent machines in my opinion. I use two of them and thus far have had very little trouble with them.
