No idea what the market holds for these. The lenses and camera are in like new condition. Yes, they have been used, but have had the upmost care taken always. Comes with fader, and pistol grip for camera, as well as all body caps for lenses. I really don't want to ebay it, too much money to them, and well...they suck. HA!

Let me know via private what you think, or if you are interested. I'll throw in a roll of Kodak Color...though I have to look up and see what it is anymore (been in the freezer forever). I also have a Bolex Titler, two Kodak 16mm projectors, and a Bolex 8mm projector (regular 8) in like new condition. I'm wanting to keep on 16mm projector and my splicer just in case (repairs) though.

This has always been a joyful hobby of mine, but hasn't gotten any use in 3 years now...time for another hobby (wanting to get into Medium Format Photography) and buy myself a Rolleiflex.

Thanks all! PM me...again, I can take pix, look up serial numbers, and all that...it sits in a box, packed up next to my bed.

Sam
I think the amateur market for 16mm cameras may have passed. I suggest you try local colleges who have courses in film making. I understand that these use digital equipment, but also expect their course members to be acquainted with using 16mm.

Always seems to be a lot of interest in 16mm on Ebay UK, but advertising is expensive if you have a fixed price. I bought a Bolex reflex with one zoom lens from Andrew Alden, cost me £450, the RX5 would be dearer, and I think having 3 lenses would make it more desirable.

Filming in 16mm is very expensive, but there is quite a lot of interest in the equipment and I don't think it's just purchased for show purposes. In the US there is a company in New York selling New (old stock) Russian made Krasnogorsk 3 cameras. Probably the only chance of buying a brand new 16mm cine camera.

Check out Andrew's website http://bolex.co.uk/andrew/Bolex_Site/BolexHome.html

Thank you Gents! Maybe eBay is my only hope...I bought the camera separate from the lenses, maybe it would be best to sell it the same way? I do hate the idea of parting ways with this fine equipment, however, like I said, it's a collecting dust hobby, and a hobby shouldn't collect dust.

Why not sell it complete?. Having said that, Switar lenses on their own are offered at high prices.

Exactly as you just said. Yes...selling complete to an amateur/hobbyist is idea. At the end of the day though, if the entire kit yields me $1400 say together...and I can get more than that for just one lens, I'll do what it takes to fund my next project.

I appreciate that Robert. [Smile]

I was just looking here:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=kern+switar+26mm+f%2F1.1&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc

Amazes me. Of course on eBay, there is Paypal, and I figure in owing 25% just to fees.

Splitting it all up sounds a better proposition because existing Bolex owners may wish to add some more lenses to their collection.

Sam, I just mentioned selling complete because it's quite rare to see a Bolex offered with 3 lenses. Looking at your link you would make more selling separately.

Problem with Ebay is that you have the insertion fee, which can be high if you have a reserve price, then there is the final selling price fee, and lastly, if the buyer pays by Paypal, they charge a fee, and take into account your postage cost.

In the UK there are a few selling alternatives, but they don't have the number of viewers of Ebay.

Robert,

Thank you again for your time on the matter. Andrew and I have come to terms, agreeable by both of us. I did the math, and while I could potentially see a better profit selling on eBay, I also had to factor in the costs at around 25% for using the service as well as eBay, and any potential loss on shipping. With that said, by the time I got to the potential bottom line (emphasis here is on the word "potential"), I was only up a couple hundred bucks...not worth the headache. Yes I hate eBay that much.

That said, so far, couldn't ask for a more agreeable and patient human being in Andrew. He will be the recipient of one of the nicest H-16 rex5's I've ever seen, as well as my collection of 3 switar lenses, macro switar 26mm f/1.1, 10mm f/1.6 and macro 75mm f/1.9...and a pan-cinor 17.5-70mm f/2.4 zoom, as well as the extras...pistol grip, rex-o-fader (empty box too!)...it goes on and on.

Again thank you for the help, and for the reference out to the UK. Just have one more roll to shoot, took it out of deep freeze this morning....remember this stuff? Kodak 7240.... [Smile]
