Was just looking at the American Ebay 16mm site and saw a print of 'Ben Hur' at $20,000. It's described as 'still in really good shape' but may have a slight problem as 'it has a Vinegar syndrome odour to it' However, no buyer need be concerned as the seller promises 'I would clean it very good and leave in open air as much as possible'. Well that's o.k. then. Add a further $569 for shipping (international shipping can be arranged) and you'll have a wonderful Christmas present. Now what happened to my Super 8 cutdown? I get increasingly sick of 'rare' prints that 'I have no projector to try it on' and folk who price most of us out of the market

I was getting ready to comment on this ebay ad myself, although I would have put it in ebay oddities. This print is the highest priced print I've ever seen in 16mm or 35mm. I wouldn't worry about getting priced out of the market, because I believe this item will never sell unless it is dropped down to about $500.
The seller seems to have no idea that prints with vinegar syndrome have very low value. Besides, he's asking twice as much as he paid for it and prints don't appreciate in value.
I don't think this ad will affect the market for collectors.

Sorry but personally I`d rather watch the Blu Ray any day.

Beyond crackers.

There is a forum member with a very nice 16mm B+W scope print for sale out of interest while I`m rumbling on.

Best wishes Mark.

A huge price drop has already happened, but it still has a long way to go.
