Thank you so much Paul for your excellent video. I don't even have a B&H 16mm projector (Elmo 16Cl), but I watched the entire video. I've heard so much over the years about the cracked worm gears on these machines and how time-consuming it is to replace. Your video confirms the process.

Great job and this will be a tremendous asset to our hobby!

Thank you for your kind words,unfortunately the video file was so large I had to stop before I could show the reassembly of the gear mechanism into the machine,and the machine running a film.But I will be producing another video with another projector of the same series.It will start with the worm gear install and loop restorer adjustment,then the reinstall of the chassis then running film to diagnose and timing adjustments.

Sounds good Paul. These types of videos are invaluable. You can... might think about dividing the procedures up into separate shorter videos.

Paul's video is very comprehensive, but I would suggest that a Bell & Howell worm change is not a job for the faint hearted. And there is the fact that certain specialised tools may be necessary.

Honestly Maurice...A worm gear replacement is more intimidating than it looks,besides C-clip pliers and a Bristol tool set,all the other tools are basic,in which everything is available online.The key to disassembly,is notation and or photos of each step.And then to reassemble is the same.take your time,don't get sidetracked and double check everything.Invest in service manuals and research online.A first timer it could take days,and then understanding the timing adjustments may take longer,don't get frustrated and take breaks when you feel overwhelmed.Thank you for watching!

Paul makes a good point.
It's not just the worm change, it's also the understanding of the timing adjustments, particularly in the case of auto-threaders.

How much do you charge to do the job and how long does it take to have this done. I have a couple that probably need this done as well as a genuine tune up. The model numbers are 2585 & 2592.

Jim, The slot loaders are pretty much the same as far as timing goes.They are a bit more tricky to get the chassis/mechanism out,so if the timing is off causing any wow or flutter,it is more difficult and time consuming to reinstall,auto/manual threaders i can disassemble install the worm gear and reassemble in just under 6 hours average with timing set.
