The running time of "We Are The Lambeth Boys" is 52 minutes. I have this on a BFI compilation DVD called "Free Cinema". See link.

In French, the traditionnal definition of a short (un court-métrage) is less than 59 minutes but some people don't agree with it. There is another expression (moyen métrage) used also sometimes for a film regarded as a short (court-métrage) by other people. Court means short and moyen means medium. Métrage means footage.

The original definition of a "short" in the UK was less than 33 minutes created by the 1927 and 1937 Cinematograph Films Act. Anything else was "long." This led to a spate of low quality cheap British fillers of 30 to 40 minutes and quickie features films around 45-55 minutes. A full programme might consist of cartoons, newsreels plus filler and main feature. A second feature might not be required. Hollywood B pictures or second features from the 30s and 40s could be anything from 55 to 75 minutes and gradually squeezed out the 30 to 40 minute fillers.
