I'm sure everybody in the USA is shocked to hear of the death of Johnny Carson. To our friends in the UK, who may not have heard of Johnny, I will just say that he was the undisputed King of late night Television, on NBC for over 30 years. He was a truly class act. Leno and Letterman are good, but totally out of Johnnys league. I 'grew up" in America with Johnny on late nite TV, and I still miss him terribly.
Thanks Johnny!

I have a feeling there were those who knew the end was near. Recently I saw a blurb for Access Hollywood or Extra that Carson had been rushed to the hospital within the past 10 days. I don't watch those tabloid shows, so I never did see the report. But in the past week I noticed the Late Show with Letterman had been making referrences to Carson, such as Carnac impressions routines, and other hints to the show. Now it all makes sense. Despite everything that went on between the rivalry of the late night hosts (Letterman was in line to replace Carson but lost to Leno); it's great that they do not forget the one man who basically did it all.

I do feel however, on the subject of the passing of Mr. Carson, it would be rather silly to have Ed McMahon's famous line printed on the gravestone. Although in appreciation (Heeeeeeerrre's JOHHNY) it's just not right.

Chip. And I thought my Professor Backwards post was borderline. [Eek!] [Smile]

What a remarkable talent Johnny Carson was.
He learned the best takes from Jack Benny and Oliver Hardy.
The last year of his show, seemed a little solemn,
and the loss of his son, I believe was the reason of restrained
revelry.
In all, he was the King.
It's good to be the King.
Long live the King of Late night TV.

For those interested, Monday January 24 Jay Leno will pay tribute on his show. Not to be missed. Check your local listings. Set your VCR.
