Hi,

the second hand market is filled with relabeled products: E.g. most/all "Hanimex"-cameras have been produced by "Ohnar". "Quelle" sold cameras/projectors made by Eumig, Chinon, ... as "Revue"-products in Europe. The Australian department store chain "Waltons" sold "Yelco"-super8-projectors as "Titan"-projectors. Kmart sold "Focal"-cameras in the USA that have been made in Japan by Chinon(?) ... .

I've tried to add this information to every manufacturer in the wiki... but I mainly only know the German/European market... e.g. isn't "Wards" as store-chain as well? So aren't "Wards"-cameras only relabled products as well?

In other words: If you do know any details about any manufacturer, it would be great if you could press the "edit"-button in the wiki and add your information:

K-Mart also sold the Focal Super8/Std 8 brand in Australia at all of their stores. Equipment, reels, cameras etc and we used to buy the Focal Super 8 camera films too, I think they were made by Agfa? They were good value in the 3-packs.

Our local K-Mart store had racks of Super 8 films too, they sold the Columbia films and I recall the 50 footer silent B & W Flintstones were $2.95 around 1980.

Just across from the rack of Super 8 films was the rack of guns! K-Mart have not sold guns in Australia for about 20 years now.

Hanimex was one of the major brands of Super 8 in Australia as it was an Australian company even though they had many others manufacture for them. They sold Eiki in their 16mm range and various brands in Super 8 gear.

... so the Super8-cameras were probably made by canon and hence removed with the "other" guns when K-Mart decided not to support (film) shooting anymore?! ... okay, okay, this was a terribly stupid pun... [Big Grin]

Very Funny!

In the US, Sears had a full range of products and films. Some of our US members would know who made the projectors.

I have a Sears film catalogue and it is almost the entire Blackhawk catalogue. No mention of them anywhere but it says the items ship from Davenport Iowa; guess who was based there!

Any information about Sears would be appreciated... Even though it pretty much sounds like "Sears = Blackhawk", there might be interesting differences:
E.g.: The European "Quelle"-store-chain (+ mail order company) used to sell "Piccolo-Film"-Super8-prints under their "Revue"-label. Nevertheless some "Revue"-films do have a stereo-soundtrack while the same "Piccolo"-prints are only in mono. Not to mention that most b&w-Revue-prints are made on Orwo-material while the piccolo-b&w-print was made on Agfa-material (or was only available in colour at all), ... .
