I started from scratch and reloaded XP and, just to be sure, tried to activate it and got the same responses.

Therefore, I have 30 days to do this again. Question ...

If I reset the clock, would it then convince the computer that the thirty days are starting yet again?

I mean, if I absolutely have to, I can do this darned thing every thirty days. It only takes about three or so hours to do so (including loading up the 2nd and 3rd service packs and all the games ect.), but it seems so silly. Fortunately, I haven't lost a single game or file, as I have back-ups of all of these things on CD rom, so it's an easy job to just reload them.

I'll try the "Jelly bean" key finder again, but if memory serves me, it only gives the key to first complete the installation, which is found on the installation CD.

Is the actual activation key also found on the downloaded into the computer XP? I would think it would have to be in there somewhere, as the one Microsoft has you type in (if they'd give me the damned thing!) would no doubt have to be compared with something in the XP program)

Any help, yet again folks?

Can I ask again, Osi....why will Microsoft not give you the activation key?
Pardon my ignorance but I'm no computer expert.

Neither am I. Here's the facts ...

1. The activation key program generates the key for me to read over the phone. I read it ....

2. They will not give the activation key.

3. I then call again and ask for a "real person" (as I have an alternate phone number for speaking to a real person.

4. I read off all the info, completely describe the CD, all the cvodes on the box, and they verify that it is an authentic XP professional program.

5. Upon asking as to why they will not give me an activation key, they state that they cannot answer that. At least, they didn't hang up on me this time.

... this is only my guess, (and I stated this in the earlier series of posts), but my best guess is that I bought a used XP Pro off ebay (which I did), but the seller shrink wrapped it and sold it as new. They no doubt did the full number of re-activations that Microsoft will allow, (I don't know what that number is myself), and so they (the seller) sold it off to unsuspecting OSI.

You know, the funny thing is, I have always used pirated CD's that friends would make a copy of for me, but my conscience started to get to me about it, so I went legit, get the real thing, and this is my reward. Figures, eh?

But, in that case, would they not just tell you that such is the case. "Sorry, the activations on that are no longer useable as they've been used for their allotted number of activations." or something like that????

Nope, none of that, I'm just assuing about that last paragraph (which you stated in your post.).

It's all such nonsense.

At least my audio mixing software and music work is on my other weaker (only a 30 gig hard drive) but fully dunctional computer. The one that is giving me hell is my gaming and otherwise computer.
