It is obvious to those that meet me that i have the disease bad. I love films so much that one gauge has never been enough I always find something on another gauge that I want to see. So the collection keeps growing.. Plus considering that I started on 35mm as a kid working at a Drive in back in the 1970's i always want to go back to it (I work with it all the time but don't get to enjoy it at home)so I have been on the lookout for a very small system to accomodate my 2 bedroom condo... I found the system this past year called a Tokiwa which is about the size of an old RCA 400. It was missing arms, and I was not sure how to deal with the sound output....

Well, luckily I work at a University and they are always throwing things away so I picked up a Bogen 100w 4x mic amp, that had 2 inputs set as a preamp (and was the size of a small stereo component). I plugged the output of the projector into the amp, then plugged in a general speaker from a Kodak pageant to test with an voila it worked perfectly... The arms I have on it can handle 2000ft reels, but they do stick out a bit, so the next test is going to be if I can prop it on a projector stand and run the film up and down (underneath the stand) using my Eiki long play unit.

It definitely runs noisier than most small gauge projectors, but is only real loud in the video because I was right next to it. But I am very close to being able to watch.... I don't know...maybe a British IB Tech 35mm print of a very popular 70's sci fi movie in my condo.

paul, haha, I'll be like that cinerama guy that had the full cinerama system in his house....The key for me is that everything always has to be somewhat portable...have you ever seen a reel of 70mm film? [Eek!]

That looks real clean, almost like new in there. Nice one.
