Geez, am I thick?

I need to load a DVD onto my hard drive in order to put it onto you tube. What do I need?

Is this an actual DVD or is it a disc with some video file on it? If it is a real DVD, you need to rip its content to your hardrive - ie a software that will grab all image and sound assets and transform them into a standalone video. My favorite is "Handbrake" available for both PC and Mac.

Jean-Marc is correct...If the DVD is one you play in your DVD player the files you will be ripping are .VOB files. Depending on the length of the video there may be more than one .VOB file which will take an editing program to stitch them together.

If it's just a simple video file format(.mpg, .avi, .mov, wmv..etc.)...then you can just drag the file to your hard drive.

Hi Micheal , just get dvd shrink (google it), put your dvd in the draw in your computer and this software will copy it to your hard drive where ever you tell it to go,then you have the relevent files to upload .Simple's.
