Has this ever been attempted on here? Would anyone be interested?

What does this actually mean? Is it a wish list for Christmas?
My wife would like a Danish Pastry Maker, I would prefer a Swedish Au pair. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

That would be awesome, Osi ... :-) For me, I really want Alien feature (any format), but Santa has kicked my ass every year, so the hopes are low :-/ Get what you deserve maybe?

Would really like to own 'Crossed Swords' Errol Flynn B&W print 16mm; should have bought it when I had the chance.

I was actually thinking of the secret santa where everyone gets a different forum member and you send them a film for a film. But If I had to pick something for my christmas list I'd really like to find a nice dupe of Dracula or Frankenstein on 16mm [Smile]

The thing that would have been nice to do for people who shoot film is to make a film specially for another member who also shoot and would have do the same. It is probably too late now to make it happen for Christmas as it takes some time to have an idea, to shoot, to have the film processed, to edit it and so on. Maybe for next year ?

Maybe we can get this thing going next year. Basically we would have to have one person that pick out each others secret santa. I think we should also pick a price range that we want to participate in Ex.
$20
$50
$100 and so on.

Not a very good idea simply because everyone has different tastes/likes/dislikes. Even if you knew what they like finding a print that was affordable/within the price range would be difficult.

Nice idea, but like Joe says, I don't think it's workable.

Twas interesting last night when watching TV to learn what the historical reason was in gift giving over Christmas probably adapted over the 2000 year old tradition I guess. Apparently people used to give gifts to family members if they were struggling and once they were doing better the gift was returned to the giver. These days it’s gone off the rails particularly putting pressure on those with families having a hard time in a recession. They did mention a good way round it which was to offer some of your time as a gift which we thought an excellent idea and anyone thinking of doing it can download a gift cheque off the net.

Secret Santa outline.
The idea is where we send a gift to someone without attaching our own names. Fun but would probably be tricky on here I guess as we have no addresses nice thought.

Lee, it's not secret Santa but do you still want to do that trailer swap? I'm over mid December.

Yes my friend I have the trailer ready for you as agreed, all rather exciting.

Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on November 13, 2013, 12:24 PM:

You can easily do it, just when you address the package, you simply put another name on your address, "Myron Proudfoot"
, "Cine Carson" or "Reel Cool Yule" or something like that! [Smile]

And then after the holidays we could reveal ourselves :-)

Good idea about secret Santa for just trailers.other then that features or tv shows would be expensive especially if shipped overseas. Someone would have to choose format as well.It would be something I would be interested in.

Well what I was thinking that along with price we also group with country that way each person does not have to end up spending $45 in shipping costs. US for US France for France and so on.

Too expensive an idea to do in these hard times.

Osi, when you finally get your copy of Grizzly Adams, the colour will go the same way as the one you already have.

Possibly, and probably. However, if I can find one that is unfaded, I can properly store it in a cool dry environment, and that will allow the print to retain it's good color for as long as possible.

I still think that's it's a possibility. I used to have a long search, attempting to find a good color copy of the optical sound feature, "Conduct Unbecoming" (1975, Micheal York, Trevor Howard ect) and only three years ago, I actually found a print, completely un-faded, perfect blacks and all, just out of nowhere.

It's stored in a cool environment, (as it's the same Eastman stock as all the others), but it was super cool to actually find an unfaded copy of that film ...

So, still hold out hopes for an unfaded copy of "Grizzly". It would have to have been stored in someone's basement undoubtably, for all these years, to still have any chance of being unfaded or at least, as pristine as possible, but the chance does exist!

Sorry to hijack the topic for a moment folks!
