I am saddened to witness partial demolition work on the car park side of the building, with the upper level/lower level rooftops and partial walls having being removed

So, so sad after more than thirty years of happy memories

Until next time, please accept my very best regards

It was a pleasure to deal with you and Derann Gary. I wish I had the film budget back then that I have now since retiring. I would have been a much more frequent customer [Big Grin]

Very sad news indeed Gary all around, even if inevitable as time goes by. [Frown]

Joe's sentiments above echo many I feel, myself included knowing what I know now.

How many can say that of their place of work these days!

Many happy memories of many happy trips down to Dudley from Hull for the Derann open days, and packing ourselves into the upstairs cinema like sardines for the auction which, on most occasions, was relayed downstairs via an audio link 'coz there were sooooo many people there. R.I.P.

I really hope somebody grabs the "Home Cinema Specialist" sign before it winds up in a dumpster.

David

My attendance at Blackpool is very much dependent on work, although I will of course be in touch if necessary

Regarding photographs. Yes, I did take several with my mobile/cell 'phone, but have found difficulty in downloading. Paul, we would all be truly grateful for your pictures

Kindest Regards To All

Well Mr Sinden, that's one of the reasons we all used to travel so many miles for the Derann Open Days me included. Fond memories and so pleased I made the effort.

Been thinking of you Gary and all the old staff who looked after us so well over the years. Be seeing you soon I hope.

As we do at these times I had a nose in the Derann 8mm store and pulled this one out which was probably one of my first new super 8 films from Derann. Goodness knows how many times that had been on the Eumig.

Wonder who did the 70's artwork for it Gary?

I think besides Paul posting photos for Gary and us all, of the very sad event of seeing the premises in its final hours,

It'd be nice to also use this page as a kind of scrapbook for one single photo from us all of happier times associated with the company.

Its mother's day here in the UK today, so I will be busy myself until early evening, but I will post a single photo of one of their film covers or famous catalogue covers then, when I'm home.

It will be lovely to see, like Lee has done here, other people's memorabilia from this once great company!😊

Ok guys I got some photo's but as I am hopeless at uploading them to here I will ask Andrew or Vidar to do so. Sadly its in an advanced stage of demolition, but the signs are still there and will see if I can recover at least a couple of them before there gone forever, not sure how successful I will be, but i'll give it go.

It looks like the "For Sale" board is still up - perhaps they think it will sell better as a vacant plot. I've checked the agent's web site again and it is still showing as for sale as development site reduced from £450,000 to £399,000 for 0.2 acres.

Please can someone save some signage? I'm sure the demolition guys will let someone take a few bits.

There's a proposal online to redevelop the site.

I don't think I can link to it here, but if you copy and paste this:

PLANNING APPLICATION NUMBER: P12/0974

-into Google it's the top result.

There are drawings towards the back.

I wasn't going to post but when I saw the photos I had a lump in my throat. I can only imagine how all the employees felt upon it's closing.I got some great films from Gary and even talked to him on the phone once. A pleasant chap. As all were there. Very sad to see it being torn down. I do hope the signage is saved. So this is what they call progress?

The previous Estate Agents "For Sale" board had on it "Planning permission for 20 flats & 3 retail units" in December 2014. I assume from the look of the one on that link (PLANNING APPLICATION NUMBER: P12/0974) nothing has changed.

[Frown] I wish I had the opportunity to visit such a place- Seems like I may never see something like this. Although the conventions should be fun enough!

DERANN & its open day visits characterised my early years in Bham till its end; lots of good memories gone with the premises... very sad....

At Blackpool Ged said he had been shown round the conversion of the building and was impressed with what they had done. I was visiting Dudley last Friday (OK not for film, but the Winter Ales Fayre at the Town Hall), so had to have a look for myself. These are the photos I took.

Sad to see the mouse has left the side of the building, but a good job has been done to the building and it should be there for a long while.

Just checked back and it looks like one of my pictures over wrote one of Vidar's, sorry but file names are not shown after posting.
