The great Martin Landau has died suddenly at the age of 89.
I loved him as the villain Leonard in Hitchcock's North By Northwest.

In Belgium and France, he was also famous for Space 1999 (the serie was called Cosmos 1999 in French) and of course for Mission Impossible. He played, if I'm not mistaking, in these two serird with Barbara Bain who was his wife at that time.

He was excellent in The Majestic, a film about an old cinema in a small idyllic coastal town in California, set in the Senator Joseph McArthy Hollywood 'Witch Hunt' days of the 1950's, and also starring Jim Carey in a superb serious role.

Martin was excellent in 2 episodes from the 60's series "The Outer Limits".. The Bellero Shield and The Man Who Was Never Born.
I also later watched him in Space 1999.
He'll be missed.

My Mom said he was in her favorite movie "The Majestic." I loved his Belle in "Ed Wood." "Pull the string!...Pull the string!" Fine actor...he will be missed.

Janice here is a scene from "The Majestic" this was the first film I had watched that Jim Carrey played a serious role.
This scene is where Martin Landau has a discussion with Jim Carrey, as to what The Majestic and going to the movies is all about.
