I thought i would go onto paypal to see if I could either cancel the payment of 150.00 to "reelwinderz" or request a refund ...

Any evidence of the payment ... is gone.

It's like it never existed. I'm going to go onto paypal and e-mail them and ask what is going on. I mean, this was just on august 1st of this year!

I'll keep you folks updated.

update ...

This is getting even more bizzare ...

to make sure I have all evidence concerning this situation, I was copying all of the messages that i have from reelwinderz, including his threats to me ...

" Don't even think about trying to smear my reputation regarding films. You would be making a huge mistake.

That is my final word on this matter and with you. "

as well as his explanation as to the transaction ...

" Sorry but you received exactly what I stated BEFORE you purchased them. The Ronald spots all have OK color and the others all faded as I stated. Read the entire email when you first asked me but you wanted them all. This isn't Walmart for Christ sake I will not accept a return or refund as you got exactly what you knew you were getting. Your best course of action is to start selling them.

Good luck and goodbye.... "

... and, as anyone, looking at the other post concerning this can see, there is no way that anyone would consider those McDonaldland commercials to have OK color.

(I have just found that it DOES save onto here on the 8mm forum, so I'll cut and paste and save it here and then cut and paste onto my WORD file, let's see if that helps!).

update ... it will save with just the actual message, but not with the evidence as to how how it was sent and with what tech.

Most befudding situation.

Has anyone ever ran across a transaction that completely disappears from you're paypal profile?

When you pay with paypal, you will receive a sort of a receipt in your email. This receipt will have the transaction ID numbers. You can click on that numbers that will bring you to paypal page where your transaction is stored.

Don't EVER click on a link within an email message to go to any account! I have received three phishing emails claiming to be from Paypal. The say I have paid for some item and to see details of the transaction click on some link in the email. I knew I did not buy the item and the address of the account was not related to Paypal. It was a phishing scam. I forwarded it to spoof@Paypal.com. Anything similar to this, do not click within the email. Log out of your email and log into the mentioned account like you normally would to check it.

Barry, what I meant was email directly sent by Paypal. To distinguish a genuine paypal email and phishing is easy. Paypal email will use our own name not just "Dear Sir" or sort of.

Otherwise Osi can also log in to his paypal and click on history. There he will find transactions.

cheers,

update ...

curiously. when I called paypal, they said that they could still see it (and they also put in a dispute on the transaction, which, since I couldn't see it on my internet here at the library, I couldn't do, so I'm quite happy with that.

They did ask as to what kind of internet service I was using, (Internet Explorer, Google or Firefox) as, for some odd reason, sometime things won't appear (?). I told them that i did infact try all three.

As Alice said ...

Curiouser and Curiouser ...

A recent time I had a problem deal with eBay UK the goods just never arrived from Spain. It was a Sony Trinitron monitor at £120 so a reasonable sized purchase. I did a couple of emails with the seller and he didn't give much information. I didn't bother with a whole back and forth argument because on eBay it says at 8 days after the last expected delivery date you can ask for a refund. I just requested a refund and it came through easily. I didn't have to produce evidence or anything. Surely eBay/PayPal ( eBay owns PayPal ) guarantee you get the money back.

One other time I asked for a partial refund and I e-mailed with the seller and just phrased it like 'when I get that I can give positive feedback' kind of thing, so I was promising him something to get the refund. That worked too. Best is to give them a way out where they don't lose face.
