First, a big thanks to David Guest for those great moments.

Shorty had to be on the first picture that was taken before the Friday's night film show. Shorty is between Nigel and Keith.

 -

The second 16 mm projector used for the show.

 -

I don't know how it's called in English, the "automatic accordeon" gave music to the audience before the projection starts.

 -

That's what I call a screen…

 -

The first film was a documentary about the British artist George Formby and the feature was Octopussy.

Great pictures! More to follow, hopefully...

Thank you, Steven

I love annonces like this
[Wink]

 -

The show was super 8 and 16 mm. When a film in one gauge ended, another in the other gauge started. There has been only a 35 minutes lunch break.

 -

The films projected.

 -

Shorty was in the audience.

 -

I could buy the 2017 dvd.

Hello Heidi. I will watch it on Wednesday night. I have no doubts I will appreciate it.

This inviting board speaks for itself…

 -

The prices for the raffle dispayed.

 -

They were various and numerous.

 -

Small and big [Big Grin]

 -

Shorty with David Watson who is deeply involved with the raffle. The system is that when you have a winning number, you can go to the table and choose the price you wish. So, of course, if you're the first one to win you have the more choice.

 -

Shorty (no we didn't kidnap him but I understand he has had no access to Internet in Blackpool) and Bob, one of the talented projectionists.

What a classy looking bunch! Coats and ties!

I'm impressed.

I should attempt to make one of my screenings "Black Tie" and see what happens!

Is this the first time that anyone has seen Joe in a tie and jacket? [Big Grin]
Looks like he had a great time.
And who the heck are Clark and McCullough? [Big Grin]

[Big Grin]

Adrian kept asking questions for the quizz all the dinner long. Last years, it was a terrible moment for me since I usually find no (or almost no) answer. This time, I have been very lucky : a gentleman who hadn't booked for the dinner showed up at the last minute. I generousely offered him my answer sheet so I could relax. I have one full year to think about another trick for 2019
[Big Grin]

 -

David Guest thanked everyone and of course everyone thanked him.

 -

One of the 5 Danish enthusiasts who travelled to Blackpool !

 -

After the dinner, a super 8 projection. Simon brought a film very recently shot with the new Ektachrome film. The lucky audience could see the good result. Kodak brought without any doubt a good stock on the market.

 -

After Simon's film, Bob showed a mixed of films mounted ond a 360 mt/1200 ft spool. After that, everybody went to sleep to be ready for the many activities to come on the Sunday.

David Guest said he would have plenty of 16 mm features to sell. Well, see by yourself…

 -

 -

 -

There was another large display of films I couldn't picture as there were many people looking throug the piles when I was taking the photos.

David really did a great job !

The dvd of the 2017 edition has been projected during the day.

Indeed, Greg, it was a schock to hear that.

The famous auction (the composition is not top, I have another one better but sadly not sharp, so it's just to give an idea…)

Looks like a lot of people attended! How many do you think were there for the festivities and the dealer table sale?....

Hi Gregg,
there was 66 people at the Convention Dinner on Saturday night and I think about 300 plus at the Convention on the sunday.

There were Indeed many people. During the auction, the staff from the hotel brought extra seats…

Hi David (Guest), yes watched my copy of your convention DVD more than once it's really good, the best made record of any film convention ever.
It put over the hobby very well with some good interveiws from different collectors, even had my ugly mug being interveiwed a couple of times. [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]

What did you eat in the picture? [Smile]

The dvd (I watched last night) is certainly a great record of what the convention is.

Luigi, this picture was taken on Sunday night (before I, sadly, had to leave to take my coach). It was a kind of buffet. The food at the hotel (where I was not staying but where I ate three time) is excellent. Here is the menu of the Saturday dinner :

Compliments to all the photographers on some excellent photos!

I couldn't guess the overall attendance but I did think it was striking that number present for the auction was the highest I've seen for many years. I recall some fairly sparse crowds not so many years ago, so to see the full rows and extra seats being brought in this year was quite something.

Posted by Graham Sinden (Member # 431) on November 25, 2018, 08:24 AM:

David did mention there was over 300 Super 8 films for the auction so I wonder if that contributed to the high attendance?

Graham S

Posted by Adrian Winchester (Member # 248) on November 25, 2018, 10:10 AM:

Graham - I think it may well have done. And it was striking to see what a high proportion of the films were actually sold, even if often for bargain prices, as that's by no means what always happens in such auctions. In a few cases, three or four copies of a particular Disney 200' appeared, and they all sold. I even wondered if the guy who sells empty 200' spools on eBay for £9.99 might have been there, building up his stocks!

Posted by Graham Sinden (Member # 431) on November 25, 2018, 11:15 AM:

Thanks for that reply Adrian, interesting.

Can anyone tell me what films were shown after the dinner?

Graham S
