All being well, we will make a long weekend of it again. David Skillern, I hope to have a longer chat with you next time.
Will we have the pleasure of your company again Shorty? hope so.

This is excellent news! I sincerely hope collectors will give it their full support, because that would be the perfect way to pay tribute to all that David Guest did to make it a great event from 2011 onwards. It clearly meant a great deal to David that the weekend should continue, so let's do our best to help make it a great success.
Posted by Simon McConway (Member # 219) on February 10, 2019, 02:07 PM:
Very well said Adrian.
If anyone is thinking of writing reasons or excuses why they won't be coming (which I remember David hating) please spare us from reading them. Even if you have to visit your Aunt Mary that day, we don't need to read about it!

No excuse at all for UK collectors! Our friend Joe 'Shorty' Caruso ventured to Blackpool all the way from the USA!
Posted by Simon McConway (Member # 219) on February 11, 2019, 05:07 AM:
I totally agree Paul.
David told the tale of someone living five minutes away from the venue who said he could not make it! Shopping can be done any day, lawns can be cut any day, but Blackpool only happens once!

Used to make the trip to Blackpool for David taking a photo for advertising so here is this years effort, anything to forward the film movement.
Better get back to work :-)

I Hope one day soon I can go to one of these film shows! I guess I would feel like a kid in a candy shop. A true collectors Dream!

Thanks, Paul. I can only encourage everyone to try to attend UK conventions. Very well organized, friendly people, usually projections and of course films and material to look at and to bring home

That's great news! I'll throw in that travel for non-driving people is likely to be the easiest it has ever been this year. The reason the roads near the North Pier were unusable last year was due to a major project that's connecting the tram system to Blackpool North station. So anyone coming by train will soon be able to get a tram from the station direct to The Grand. And as direct trains from London to Blackpool have also been reintroduced, anyone (like me) coming from or through London will potentially be able to get from Euston station to the hotel in only two stages!
Posted by Lee Mannering (Member # 728) on February 12, 2019, 09:20 AM:
Ade They still are as of today just left Blackpool. The works are for extensions to the tram network into town but its said they will be done for Summer.
Popped in the hotel today, same manager as when it was The Hilton but of course Britannia had taken it over now. Nice lady..
Also called at my favourite cinema Odeon Blackpool. Worth mentioning in case anyone is making a longer stay of it, located south shore.
