Well folks its been a long time since I last viewed this movie. When I worked at the cinema, it took me five months to get a 35mm print to screen, there were very few prints brought into NZ at the time.

I remember getting the print and putting it on at a 8pm time slot [Smile]

Anyway many of the young staff thought I was crazy to put a film on with Japanese dialogue and English sub-titles [Roll Eyes] Much to my relief the film did really well during its run at the cinema. The only thing I have left from those times, is the movie poster and the 35mm trailer.

I hope one day to once again, come across a 35mm print lying around somewhere [Wink] now that would be nice.

Up to now I have been reluctant to use the VP for this particular Blu-ray, due to the fact the English sub-titles are out of the image and into the black at the bottom masking. Ideal for TV but not for the VP, however tonight I adjusted the projector to suit, and I must say its an incredible film.

The Blu-ray image is excellent, but its the Audio that really kicks butt, with explosions and bullets whizzing around the speakers. The sub was doing its thing big time. Anyway when I finished and came in the house my wife said, what was all that noise?....did you hear it I replied...you could have heard it down the street she says [Eek!] .....I never realized it was that loud.

Anyway its a brilliant movie with a running time of 2hrs 20min, its a Blu-ray I would certainly recommend

Liked Iwo Jima more than the companion film, Flags of Our Fathers.
