Lately I have been considering saving (and enhancing) my super 8mm film soundtracks. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations with digital sound editors? My thought is to save my soundtracks (digitally) to CD. Do any enhancements (for better sound) and have a backup should my originals become damaged.

Hi Henry,
I've messed around with SoundForge, a friend who is a musician has it. It is really a super tool. You can rip music off of CDs, you can record sounds through a mic. connected to the computer, you can add effects such as reverb and mix multiple tracks.

The drawback: it aint cheap. I'm hoping when the version I was using becomes downrev. I'll get a copy at a real break. The existing version has capabilities way beyond what I'll ever need. Ultimately this is what I want to use to build my sound tracks.

I think backing up soundtracks digitally is probably a really smart idea.
