Are there any Film Labs that will do 16mm (optical sound)to super 8mm (with mag sound) prints for individuals? I have a good many 16mm B/W trailors that I would like to get put onto Super 8.

I'm afraid you're about 20 years too late to find someone in the US that will still do this (aside from copyright fears that labs have).

A direct reduction would require the lab to have super 8 perf black and white reversal stock and that's something you'd probably have to order special from Kodak in the 100,000 foot min. to get.

Then there's the problem of getting stuff mag striped in the US as well.

You'll find that a 16mm sound projector will be much cheaper.

Thanks again for the response to my question regarding my trailors.

One more question if I might, are there any over the pond in the UK that would do it for and individual? These are great trailors and I would like to incorporate them in my shows. I have 16mm but, just can't put the amount of film on the reels, thus more reel changes. Besides, I just like Super 8 more,
than 16mm.

You'll still have the same problems on a one-off print of not having the stock anymore. If the trailers are in public domain, you might see if you can strike a deal with Derann if they were interested in adding them to their catalog to the extent of making a dupe negative, a master mag track and then some reduction positive prints. Not a pretty price for one print, but likely the route you'd have to follow if you can find anyone to take on the work.

If they're not PD, I'm afraid no one will touch the work without a license and letter of authorization (laboratory access letter) from the copyright owner.

there are two labs offering the service you require, one in Germany the other in Italy.They have a price list to enable you
to calculate the aprox cost & are in English text.
The copyright issue I can't advise you on.
