Hello All

Being a big Margaret Rutherford fan I was wondering which of her films were ever released on super 8. I have got 'Trouble in Store' which I can only watch for Margaret as I can't bear George Formby [Roll Eyes] , and 'The Happiest Days of their Lives' which is one of my all time favourites [Smile] .

Was 'Blythe Spirit' ever released? Does any one know of any others??

Mike, I would love to get a copy of one of her Miss Marple films on super 8. Bet they were never released?

Kevin, the reason Margaret Rutherford's "Miss Marple" films were never released on 8mm was because they were distributed by M.G.M., therefore fell under the contract of Ken Films, and I couldn't see them bringing out the very "British" "Miss Marple" films in the 1970's, plus they were all shot in B/W, and Ken Films biggest sellers were always Colour titles. Of course she was in Derann's lovely print of "The Smallest Show On Earth" as the dotty ticket seller/refreshment seller/ stroke any job at hand, who sold tickets for eggs, bacon etc. Now this is a must for all you Margaret Rutherford fans, and it still pops up on dealers lists from time to time (I had a copy last year, didn't last long though!).

Barry

Thanks for the tip, I'd forgotten about that one. When our local[and very historic] cinema reopened in 1998 after a 12 month closure for essential roof repairs, The Smallest Show on Earth was their first film which they showed for one night only to a packed house. Very fitting.

Shame about the Miss Marple films, they would have been great to collect, Margaret made a far better Miss Marple than the BBCs' latest contender whos name I can't remember...

Miss Marple films were shown quite a bit on TV here, but I haven't seen any lately. Rutherford is the only real Miss
Marple. Yes, if anyone ever finds them on 8mm/16mm please post about it.

What a great scenario! The defenseless(except for the pocket book thing) old lady wins out with cunning and wit every time. [Wink]
