Hi guys.... very very new to the world of 8mm. Recently got my hands on a Bell & Howell 8mm projector, and even more recently, my first print, the 1925 version of Phantom of the Opera.

Couple of questions!
-What's the best way to store my print?
-The spindle seems smaller than the hole in the film reel, is there a kind of 'expander' plug or some way to make the reel sit snug on the spindle?

Many thanks in advance!
-Johnny

Is it possible you have a standard 8 film and a super 8 projector? What is the model of your machine? Hopefully it will be dual 8mm and will therefore be able to run standard and super 8.

Best way to store the films? In a cool dry place. That rather rules out Australia so you'll have to emigrate. [Wink]

Or Vice-Versa chaps?!?!?!

If it's very loose & wobbly, it surely must be the other way round; a Super 8 film (large spool hole) and a Standard/Regular 8 projector (small spindle). [Confused]

Hmmm! Failed your geography exam then John. [Big Grin]
I prefer the card storage boxes, helps the film breath and avoids musky smells.

Thanks for that guys... I'll take some pictures tonight and post 'em so you can see the size difference. I'm pretty sure my gear is standard 8 only.

Hi Jonathon, welcome.

The debate on storing film is a very long one. Horizontal or Vertical, both have there supporters. I think most will agree that you need to keep them tightly wound with a clean piece of tape to hold them together. Card boxes stored in a cool dark and not too high a humidity.

John, will lend you my blow up Globe next time we meet !
