I just got one of the plenty synchronization gadgets from Elmo via eBay.

The ELMO SYNCHRO SOUND A-1 is obviously a tape head, to be mounted on a quarter inch tape, together with a small electronic unit with a 6-pin DIN socket and a small red lamp. Unfortunately, there are no instructions.

I was hoping that I might use this device to synchronize my GS-1200 and Uher Report 4200 tape. Well, at least an appropriate cable is required and some way to get the synch pulses on the tape.

Does anybody know more of this device?

Hello and welcome [Smile] ,

I also have one of these and although I have never used it I do have the instructions. Here are the first two pages which if legible should give you an idea of what it does;

 -

It pre-dates the GS 1200, but as it used the already established ESS system it should work with it ok.

If you like, I could email you the remaining pages from the instruction manual.

Thanks a lot Mike!

It seems as if I might have luck and only need a cable to connect the 6-pin DIN sockets on the A-1 and the GS-1200. Having a look in the GS-1200 manual (scanned by Ugo - thanks!) this seems to be chord PC-001. I hope that this is compatible with the A-1 as the A-1 clearly predates the GS-1200 (it's not listed in my Elmo brochure from 1985). Hopefully it uses just a simple 1:1 wiring scheme. If the A-1 pin assignment is not described in its instructions, I'll disassemble the A-1 to check if it's the same as the one given in the GS-1200 instructions - just to be on the safe side.

Many thanks to all participating in this forum for the valuable information and the kindness sharing it!

Marco
