Hi,
I've purchased the Scott MacGillivray book about Castle Films. In it he says that the Copyrights on their films were renewed in the 70's. I believe they were renewed by Universal.
Does anyone know if the Copyright is still in force ?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting question, Pat. Obviously, all the Universal stock is still copyright protected. I wouldn't know about all the documentaries and travelogues that Castle released...

Copyright is a very involved issue and since most of the Castle films were not original productions (there were a few) the original copyright owners rights would prevail as underlying rights.
There are lawyers that charge hundreds of dollars an hour that do this type of work and entering into any commercial use of old titles without a good title search is just asking for trouble.
