Even being moderator I'm not sure if this is in the right forum....but here goes.

I got us a Kitten about 3 months a go and when ever I have film out he is there like a shot. He likes to try to catch the leaders in his paws if I allow them to dangle.

Anyway I was in the middle of a repair to a GS recently and turned my back for a few seconds to get my camera to enable me to take a pic of a particular part on the machine. I was checking out the optical playback on this machine so it was running. When I turned round this is what I saw:

 -
"My claws are better than that mechanical thing!"
I train them young [Big Grin]

Hey the film reel is about the same size as his head! [Smile]
Cute little guy... maybe you can send him here and he can use his paws to freely spin my GS take up reel...then I wont have to fix mine!

Hi Rik, Yes he is cute.....most of the time. Needless to say he was removed fairly sharply after taking this pic.

Its Fudge. But he does get called a few other names [Big Grin] as you can imagine at 6 months he gets up to all sorts of mischief [Smile]
I didnt think of using that as a desktop pic, thanks for the idea. Jan, just mailed you a high res copy for your desktop.

Kev,

much appreciated, thanks for the email. Changing the wallpaper for the high-res version was like going from VHS to super-8. [Big Grin]

Kev, what’s your long term ambition for Fudge? A replacement for the MGM lion [Big Grin]

Kev,

You will have animal rights and the cat protection league after you if it is proven that he is holding a rag soaked with film renew in his paw. Worse still if it was a certain film cleaner by a UK manufacturer-his paw would certainly curl, shrivel and drop off!

That made me smile Tony, but hey! that's a great idea. I will start training him right away. Now where's that cloth and WD40 [Wink]

I hope he's declawed, lest you want emulsion scratches on your freshly cleaned film... [Eek!]

I believe the caption for this photo is "Hmmmm....the rewind motor assembly's torque is insufficient. Need to change the wire position from 3V to 4V terminal on the transformer. Could someone pick up some tuna?"

I've told this cat related film story before on here, but just in case. I'm screening a regular 8 sound film for a few friends. We are in the screening room....the film is running in the booth...things are going swimmingly.....then the projected image begins to tilt ...and before I can get to it, the entire image has disappeared out of sight....and the projector had fallen off the pedestal and hit the ground. One of our cats had gotten up there , got tangled in the power cord and pulled the fairly lightweight Eumig 810 right over and off the pedastal. The miracle ......the machine was still running when it hit the floor on it's backside....bulb still on, sound still on . And after a few minutes to check everything out, the projector was up on the pedestal again and running again , taking up right where the film left off.....the film spools stayed on the arms....and everything worked...and still works fine. The cat must have been scared by it all . He has never ventured up there again.
You can't imagine the sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach..the wave of chills that went down my spine as I watched helplessly as the projected picture tilted 45 degrees to the right...and then out of sight. True witness, however, to the toughness of the Eumig machines.

Can you imagine what that what have done to GS1200? I shudder to think of it.

Gary,

Great story! I think your kitty would've hung itself if that was a GS. Those monsters are too damn heavy!

Either way, I'm glad kitty didn't actually get hit by the thing falling! [Eek!] [Smile]
